Can't wait.  Hope the "suggested" date of 9-14 for So. Calif. is correct.

Looks like 09/14 was right on, as was the Engadget review.

Kudos to Verizon for a job well done!

Kudos??

Total failure on their part. This new interface is utter failure.

The new interface is absolutely terrific, big step forward.

On a small SD screen the new guide isn't as nice as it is on a 50" display, but I wonder whether people who are complaining about the guide have SD sets, but HD video proportions are configured in their settings. Even on the 19" SD set in my bedroom I don't miss the old guide.

I'm surprised at the small number of glitches I've run across. Any issues I've found have been minor-- based on what I've seen over the last 2 weeks I think there could have been more unresolved minor bugs with 1.8. I love the new guide, chaptering, and the ability to add extra time to a recording already in progress. I just visited my In Laws and my parents, and compared with their DirectTV and Time Warner interfaces, 1.9 is more attractive, powerful and intuitive. Even though there are still a few missing features in comparison, no longer miss the Tivo service I had prior to activating Fios.
