Joe Ambeault said it's very likely Verizon not gonna finish rollout this year.
Knowing how optimistic he usually is, I am positive 1.9 will NOT be installed in every Verizon box by Memorial day 2012. And this is optimistic snenario, yesterday we've had earthquake on East Coast - perfect reason to delay. Then, hurricane Irene coming, after that - winter and snowstorms...
Nope, not kidding.
1.9A has been available now to a fairly large number of customers for quite a while now, there don't seem to be that many complaints coming in these days. So once they restart the rollout I really don't see why it can't move at a reasonable, controlled pace. Unless of course the labor issue gets in the way again.....
I have had 1.9A for several weeks now, works ok for me. There are a few glitches I have noticed, but nothing major.
Where did Joe say it was not very like to finish rollout this year, can you provide a link or a quote? I certainly have not seen anything like that. And if he did say that, I am guessing that might have been based on the strike lasting longer than it did (and I am sure hoping they can settle the issues without another work stopage) .
Maybe you are just a pessimist, glass half empty, and I am just an optimist, glass half full....

Slow spin was done to California and Texas before the strike which means a small number of users got it. The rest of California and Texas were suppose to get it when the strike intervened.
We are all hoping to hear that they are ready to roll again, preferably in our area.

Justin,
I am not pessimist, I am just well informed realist...
This is a link regarding Joe not sure that rollout will be done this year, in response on my comment:
http://forums.verizon.com/t5/IMG-1-9/IMG-1-9-in-VHO-8-Status/td-p/329913/page/5
I would be shocked if they will complete rollout this year - this is Verizon for the God sake!!!

Thanks for the link. Note that his post was right in the middle of the strike, and at that point there was no indication that the unions would decide to go back to work (temporarily as I understand it) under the current contract. So I think his comments were based on anticipating the strike would continue for quite some time. I think (hope) that with the workers back at work, at least for now, that Verizon will decide to move forward with the rollout.
But we shall see I guess.....

TJ is again sounding hopeful about finishing the rollout in a few months. But he could be wrong, particularly if another work stoppage were to occur.

Hello All,
Our product deployment teams are whole again as of this week. We have crafted a new plan... and that plan doesn't include letting the 2 week work stoppage have any major impact on getting IMG 1.9a done this year.
I expect to be back on the horse blasting your boxes in the next 2 markets with IMG 1.9 upgrades in several days... not multiple weeks.
Several means 7 to 12ish
B-)

That would be nice. I added a new Bathroom to my home since the original 1.9 announcement. Will be starting a Family room next. Gee I wonder which will come 1st, the 1.9 update or the room?

My question is, what should I do to make sure my STB is ready to make your acquaintance, soon? Should I make sure there are no overnight DVR recordings scheduled? Should I leave it on and active or turn it to stand by? Should I randomly hard reboot the device so it goes an checks out if there are any upgrades to grab?
Let me know,
Jimmy

Don't know if Joe will respond. But in general you should avoid having a the box active, expecially recording when the update is occuring. But don't go crazy about it. The update will pretty much go to your box when its pushed out, and require a reboot. The reboot should occur automatically. Sometimes when you see the update completed, but things don't seem totally well, it helps to do a hard reboot.
