In response to "questioning":

Without the vitriole, for me it isnt as much about the new guide, it is about the hardware functions, and the fact that I was told over a year ago whe I signed my contract that SATA and multi hub would be available :shortly" -see my posts over the year. These features, while not critical in the big picture, are relevant to how my family watches TV. I sacrificed these features with DTV for FIOS thinking they were honestly telling me it would be "soon".

It is also about the fact that we can see banners on our screen telling us about upgrade coming shortly, which then mysteriously disappear without explanation.

I dont understand, nor has anyone explained to me, why the verizon technology cannot turn on  all 10 million upgrades at once, the way directv did all the time, nor why server issues or strikes should delay things for months, not days.

Also, no one has explained to me, despite my repeated questioning via forums, twitter to joe, emails, why these two hardware upgrades have to be tagged onto the 1.9 guide upgrade, when onscreen voicemail, which is great, was added without major upgrade. I understand , as discussed before, that there might have be content issues, but these obviously dont apply here since most customers nationwide have all of this already.

And it is not days or weeks that we have been waiting here in NY/MA, it is months; look through the forum to see when others started to ask questions about the features they now have.

And Alden seems to be correct , that FIOS reps stopped responding to any negative questions on these forums;  while it was nice that Tonya responded to my recent post, I had to laugh because it was another nebulous  meaningless answer.

I applaud you ABMCD for the thoughtful response!

Verizon should FIRE ALL MANAGERS involved in this DISASTOROUS UPGRADE, specifically Joe Ambeault. Absolutely UNQUALIFIED for the position he holds!!!  Shame on you Joe and Verizon for keeping kim

"I dont understand, nor has anyone explained to me, why the verizon technology cannot turn on all 10 million upgrades at once, the way directv did all the time, nor why server issues or strikes should delay things for months, not day" DirecTv hasn't done that in a long time, unless you want to count emergency releases to fix serious bugs. They're rolling out their HD UI right now. Anyway, there are myriad technical reasons for doing roll outs, but the primary one I'd say is to not saturate customer support or to over burden servers. Catching serious problems early is of course a concern and part of what held up IMG 1.9 in the first place.

The answer for your question is plain and simple - as I said before several times -Verizon don't care much about what customers think and feel, not to the degree that they can change the way they operate. Knowing that FIOS Internet nobody can match in speed and realibity, plus digital phone, plus bundling this in one package, Verizon knows that even dissatisfied and really unhappy customers like me will stick around. They know that they can play games with us like latest message in the forum from employee Tonya_VZ  , who happily informed us how hard Verizon is working to bring "the latest and the best technology to every customer SOON!!!" The  cynicism of this message, in my view, is beyond and above...

The answer why Verizon could not upgrade software to everybody at once like DirectTV may be like this: Verizon probably was trying to do it as cheeply as possible, so they hired a lot of cheap and unqualified people to manage, develop and implement new IMG. These people could not develop and implement on time good quality software, as it took 5 years to develop it and now a year to roll it out,  they could not manage, they could not communicate with customers. Total failure of leadership. And guess this  - THEY STILL VERY PROUD OF THEMSELVES FOR THE JOB DONE ( Joe Ambeault own words).

With this kind of attitude New Yorkers and Bostonians may not see IMG upgraded in their lifetime...

Yes, I have read in other threads here on the forums that it's being rolled out gradually because when you're talking about rolling this out from one region to the next, there needs to be enough technical support available to iron out any problems and kinks that come up in the beginning.  If it were rolled out all at once throughout all of these regions, how could Verizon possibly handle that all at the same time?  And I believe the story about technical issues and there was indeed a strike not long ago.  And if it's a concern with the server, you're definitely talking about new computer software.  It's no wonder why Verizon reps have stopped responding to this because they're not going to have time to keep answering this like a broken record.

Personally, I think people are expecting too much from this.  All of these quetions and concerns mentioned have indeed been answered many times.  I don't believe in this case that it's about doing things as cheaply as possible or about not caring about customer satisfaction.  In other instances that may very well be the case but I think your assessment of what's going on is as realistic as you can get. And how on earth is Verizon going to know the exact date when certain areas will get it?  What is wrong with saying it's going to come soon?  Soon means in the near future.  I really don't understand the big deal is.

I really don't know what to tell you but a lot of your questions have already been answered here already...and again in a post right beneath yours.  It sounds to me like you're expecting an exact date which isn't going to happen.  This roll out was planned back in April and my area didn't get it until October.  So what?  You're being notified that it's coming soon.  I never got any banners.  The change just happened at about 3 in the morning on my TV when I saw a bunch of numbers going back and forth on the STB - it just so happened I couldn't sleep that night.

As for all these other features you were promised, all I can say is that a lot of sales reps will say anything to get your business.  I really don't know specifically what you're talking about.  Maybe you should get a hold of your original contract that you signed so you are clear about what it stipulates.  Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to back track over your older posts from the past year. I'm very satisifed with the features on mine.

I'm sticking with my Verizon arrangement but like I've said, if you think you can do better with another provider, then by all means, go for it.  Either let it go if it's not a big deal or do something about it if this whole thing bothers you that much.

I don't know what else to say.

Anyone know when 1.9 is coming to Massachusetts? Is there someplace we can subscribe to be notified by email when it will be available? Just looking for some definative timeframe so that we can plan accordingly (ie. connect hard drive so we can record more shows). Thanks.

Nobody knows including production manger Joe Ambeault responsible for upgrade - he lied to us so many times about the date for upgrade that nobody minimally reasonable beleives him. His latest lie that we gonna be upgraded before Turkey day - blatant lie. O, I am sorry, in his Twetter blog he said Turkey day but did not specify what year.... There will be plenty more Turkey days in the coming years, so he will have an opportunity to fulfiil his promise.

I'd say you all should be getting that "A new FiOS TV is coming" banner real soon.

I wonder how many complainers will complain about the guide when they get it.Smiley Very Happy

I like it just fine, with the proper configuration on a decent TV. I have even forgotten what the other one looked like.

I do wish the best for those still waiting, but I remember getting 1.8 about this time last year.Smiley Sad

My issue isnt/hasnt been about the guide; it is about the SATA storage and multi hub features; those are the things I was told were coming a year ago and would effect my families' tv watching.

Why these two hardware features are tied to the massive 1.9 upgrade has never been clear to me; the voicemail on screen was done independent of 1.9, i have that already.

Two different issues: the guide, and the hardware functionalities. I realize this is repetitive (duh) but some of your answers dont seem to be comprehending this. Those of you who have these features for many months please dont tell me I am just a complainer, you have it and pay the same as I do.

Do you actually think that FIOS customer service gets massive numbers of service calls in each zone when upgrade ocurs, or even enough to justify several months between each zone being upgraded?
