Guide Option Modes

I was wondering if there was a way to set the "Subscribed Channels" Mode Option on the Guide as the default guide to pop up every time you go to use the guide instead of having to always go into the options and switch it?  My DVR and regular set top boxes just took the 1.9 version upgrade for the software version last week.  Also, is there anyway we can change the amount of time the banner for channel info at the bottom of the screen remains on the screen?  Maybe a setting to change the time from what it's set to now to a quicker 2, 4, or 6 seconds so it goes away quicker on its own instead of always having to press the OK button?  Other than that the service is great. Could use some more Showtime HD and BBC America HD as well.  Thanks.

You can set the guide to remember its state. To do this, press the Menu button, then select Settings, then Television, and finally enable the Last Known Guide State setting. Now, when you put the guide into Subscribed mode, that selection will stick, even if you turn the box off.

A couple of notes:

  • There is a feature called Flip By Favorites, which sets the guide and info screens to only show channels in one of your favorites lists. This feature overrides the Last Known Guide State feature, so if Flip By Favorites is enabled, the guide will not remember its state, but instead will default to the appropriate Favorites view.
  • The Last Known Guide State feature only applies to the guide; it does not apply to the info bar. The info bar will always return to the All Channels view.

One minor caveat to the above answer, if the STB re-boots or you have a power outage it will revert to all channels (at least for now, is supposed to be addressed in a future bug update - if and when that ever happens).
