So, I am once again confused. Is the update coming or is it not coming? I am usually an early adopter of any kind of technology that makes life better, and this would REALLY improve the inferrior guide that we have now - PLUS the ability to add a eSATA drive to the DVR to finally be able to store the shows that I want to store. I mean i understand that the roll out has to manage issues and customer complaints - but wow - Kind of hate waiting and waiting and waiting.....
Further - yeah - I think we should get a credit for having to deal with IMG 1.8 longer.

You expect Joe to once again promise specific date? If he will do that, the promise will be broken, guaranteed!!! So don't ask him specific date, he does not know it because he almost certainly will not be able to fulfill his promise. Sometime by the end of year 2020 everybody will have (hopefully) IMG 1.9 and ability to hook up external drive... Be hopefull guys!
I don't do dates... those come from press releases and such. The bosses would tar and feather me if I did.... But I can dialogue about almost anything else.

So what's been happening with IMG 1.9?
blah blah blah
Joe
Here's the bottom line:I am paying the same amount of money as other subscribers, but yet I am receiving an inferior product due to a lack of availability of IMG 1.9a in my VHO.
Please explain why I am a less valued customer. Please explain why I am paying the same price, but receiving an inferior product.
The only fair way to proceed with this rollout is to give credits for those of us stuck out in the cold. This a) rewards loyalty, b) removes the sting of paying for an inferior product and c) adds an incentive for Verizon to get the rollout moving to bring their bottom line back up.
P.S. The Verizon apologists can just be quiet and not bother replying. I don't care about your nonsensical rationalizations for why I should have to wait years and years for basic features that Verizon chose to cripple. Don't get me wrong, FIOS internet is the best ISP I've ever had. FIOS TV leaves much to be desired. If you're a Verizon fanboy of any size or shape, your opinion is not relevant to me.
Jeez... to "cripple" something it had to actually work in the first place. All that existed prior to 2010 was eSATA hardware. Plug a drive in and nothing happens. We had to develop drivers, change file systems, integrate into the DVR app... blah... blah... blah... Plug a drive in and the DVR records and plays video from it because of all the software that got developed.
But... yes there is always a higher gear... so we are kindred spirits... nothing for me ever comes fast enough...

It is coming. Usually takes 2-3 months to get it to everyone. The clock started the first week of July. So 1 month down, which means everyone that doesn't have it yet gets it in 1-2 months.

So if you wait 4-5 weeks between rolling out to 2 VHOs at a time, you're still looking at a few months. UNLESS you are going to wait less time between rollouts. Can you at least tell us how much time is going to pass between each roll out?

Generally we plan for 14 days between markets, but as I previously stated it is really a function of support calls returning to the levels there were at before an upgrade... so we have support capacity for the increased calls from the new markets that get upgraded.
Last last round of markets took longer than 14 days to settle down.

The waiting is what the killer is. Expecially when the upgrade is so close, and then it is taken away at the last minute, and you go back to guessing when you might get it again......
Though I am certain most customers could completely care less about this (or don't even want it) - some of us actually understand what features are in the IMG upgrade and why we want it. We are the customers that dont need to call in with questions. And we are stuck out in the cold waiting. I do an AWFUL lot of waiting for features with FiOS --- more than I think I have done with any cable op. Even with this upgrade, it is only barely getting functionality that all the competing cable ops have already (for a long time) in my area. If you were cutting edge, I could perhaps understand the delays more........

Maybe those of you complaining are watching way to much tv. There is a whole world out there.
As Joe stated, you don't do the whole country upgraded at the same time because that would overly stress the call centers, wait times on hold for customers would go sky high, and everyone would be unhappy. Just take a deep breath and wait a month or two or three...what is the freaking hurry!!!
