I'm sure they felt IMG 1.9 would be out soon, but software development is not like baking cookies. It's ready when it's ready, and even then sometimes you think it's ready or you try to rush it but then realize it has too many issues and you have to pull it back. And then just as it was about to start going out again, the strike happened. I just don't think their intention was to mislead people, but I do think there is a caution here that when you accept a product based on expectations of new features you are accepting a risk. Given that Verizon didn't actually require me to take a risk and the only thing I've invested are a couple of 2TB eSATA drives that I can always re-purpose ... giving FIOS TV a shot was a no brainer.

Above and beyond all the back-and-forth chats, does anybody at Verizon, or outside of Verizon, have an idea at all of an ETA of when the IMG 1.9 will be pushed to downstate NY, particularly Nassau County? An "accurate" ETA would be nicer. Thanks.

For totally unqualified software developers at Verizon devloping new IMG is not baking cookies. For DTV software developers new upgarde going like a cakewalk, but not for Verizon. Not suprised at all  as Joe Ambeault  is the manager of this team... Very proud one for himself and his team ( his own words, by the way).

Jon:

The strike was over months ago, how long can that be an excuse?  The hurricane was 2 months ago. We are paying the same as people who have the new features of 1.9 for many months, not days or weeks; is that fair?

As best I can tell , the only way to get any company based information is to follow Joe's twitter feed , which is @FIOSTV. His last comment, as best I can tell, before he went on vacation, was "around turkey day" for NY/MA. He picks and chooses who to repond to.

I can't refute that Verizon has a glacially slow rollout plan even if there weren't various hiccups along the way, and DirecTv even has a nifty public program where you can try out new s/w even before it's released. I appreciate it. but it's certainly not enough to keep me from switching and it certainly didn't stop DirecTv from ripping a feature out of their latest release that seriously effects my setup (DirecTv can no longer display the guide, menu, program list, info, etc, etc, on one of the DVRs SD outputs while viewing a HD channel).

Thanks for the update. Turkey day is next week so that would be a nice treat but I'm not holding my breath. I like FiOS, the picture and sound is better than my old Optimum, my Internet is faster. The billing is at times confusing. What rattles me on this IMG 1.9 issue is that FiOS pushed emails months and months ago about the upgrade and incentives to upgrade to their bigger hard drive DVR or a bigger WD external hard drive. So I went out and invested in the external hard drive as they suggested only to find out that for Nassau Co. and downstate NY that (oops) the ability for an external hard drive was not compatible with the current software. I really don't mind that I bought the external hard drive; I could either use it for other purposes or just keep it on the rack with my AV equipment and it looks like a book and allows guests to think I actually read.

But, at best, this whole upgrade build up and delay has been a big f'ing tease and that's what bothers me the most.

If the update were happening before turkey day, wouldn't we be seeing the "New FiOs Coming Soon" banner on our DVRs? Snce that has not appeared yet, I would not be expecting the update next week.

I'm pretty satisfied with Fios too.  In all reality, my only concern is that I'm getting what I am paying for and that everything is working fine.  I obviously didn't get the TV Guide upgrade until 7 months after the first "announcements" were made about it.  It will come to your area when it comes.  Does anyone honestly believe that Verizon would intentionally exclude NY and MA from that and someone "single out" that one area, like it's something personal against the northeast?  Or are you just upset that it's not coming fast enough?

It's like when I'm cooking, do I want my food quick or do I want it good?

This is petty stuff.

No, I don't believe mr" guestioning"  that Verizon intentionally exclude NY/MA from upgrade, But I do believe that, somehow, Joe Ambeault intentionally put lie after lie, after lie on the forum and on the twitter about when we here in Mass will be upgraded. By my count the latest"promised day - Turkey day" will 4th or 5th lie coming from Joe and I afraid not he last one. And as amazing as all this story with upgrade is, even more amazing is that Verizon top bosses apparently don't care much how all this never-ending saga is going. I wonder is anybody on top management asked Joe question once why it takes so long and why so massive failure of regular upgrade happenned under Joe watch. Verizon absolutely does not care what customers think, this is culture of the Verizon dealing with customers. I know this first hand and I am absolutely not suprised how all this unfolding
