I agree, lets stay on topic.

Elizabeth , its nice to know someone from Verizon is actually reading this forum.  Could you please explain to us, then, what the actual reason for this recurrent delay is?

Joe (@ FIOS TV) just tweeted to someone else that it has to do with "other activity on the network". He obviously doesnt respond to my tweets, but WHY would other activity on the network be more important , i.e. using the bandwidth/serviers etc, than giving the same capabilities to the remaining customers that most have for months already?

Hello ABCMD

I'm sorry, but moderators are only responsible for the operation of the forum itself. We have no access to account, product or service information. So unfortunately, we can't answer that question.

Elizabeth:

Thanks for prompt response.

It seems that Joe Ambeault is the only Verizon employee who knows/is willing to clue us customers in on actually what is going on/upcoming with respect to FIOS content and/or developments such as 1.9/SATA/multi-hub, or BBC america or any other long standing questions.

To the best of my knowledge, he no longer follows/answers on these company forums, but only on twitter. He actually doesnt tweet anything , but picks and chooses to whom he will answer specific tweets.

Could you possibly forward our messages to him, or contact him, asking him to respond/post an answer to our questions here on these forums, where he is not limitted to 140 cryptic characters?

It seems to me that might be good for your public relations, and even quiet some of us long waiting customers down.

Edited off topic and possibly on a personable level. So best not commented. Even if I thought it might be helpful.

I'm just going to stay out of this now because I really don't understand what this is about.  I feel like the tone of this discussion has become hostile and disrespectful.  I feel disrespected by the way I'm being addressed here on this particular thread with angry comments being directed toward me as "mr. questioning".  I hear a lot of anger and sarcasm in that but I'm not going to resort to name-calling or any personal attacks.

And now a new thread has been started on this, implying that this is a discrimination case against the entire region of New York and Massachusetts?  Are you kidding me?  I truly cannot respond to this any further.  I'm sorry but it just doesn't make any sense and it definitely sounds like this is being taken out of context.

Delayed again...  ::sigh::

For me, it comes down to this:  I want 1.9 for one reason, to use the eSATA port.  I've got the older DVR with a small disk, and with the number of people in my family we're constant juggling recordings to make room.

I was hoping to find a good deal on an external disk on Black Monday, which is today, but I'm not going to buy hardware that I can't test in case it doesn't work and needs to be returned.  So that opportunity has now come and gone.

In 2 or 3 months, my 2 year price guarantee is going to expire and undoubtedly Verizon is going to raise my monthly fee.  At that point I'll be paying more, and be using inferior hardware (i.e., smaller DVR and an 802.11g router whereas the new routers are 802.11n).  More money for demonstrably inferior service compared to new customers.

I suspect I won't have 1.9 -- and therefore won't have the external storage, either -- by that time.

Competition is a good thing.  I can, and probably will, vote with my wallet and become and ex-Verizon customer.

Just to clarify (not necessarily for you, but for anyone who reads your post): If your old DVR is a QIP6xxx box, it does not have an eSATA port, only the QIP7xxx boxes have one.

And for extra monthly rental, you can of course replace one of your STBs with another DVR in the interim. Or spend $40 one time and get the QIP7232 with the 500 GB drive to replace your existing DVR. So you do have choices to provide some relief without getting 1.9 (and yes, I know, for extra $$$$).

AG5bpilot:

The issue of the  SATA port , and the multi-hub capabilities, are why I started this particular thread in this first place. I have tried to engage FIOS employees multiple times for this forum, but alas no takers.

To Justin I ask: why should AG5bpilot, or I , or anyone else have to pay extra money for a feature that the large majority of the country has had for quite some time, some about  six months. If anything, we deserve a small refund by this time.

Watching Joe's twitter feed, the latest is that there is NO time frame for those of us left without these features and the new guide, with him stating that it wont be before the end of the year, well over six months i believe since the first customers received these features.

Why should any other network feature apparently using finite bandwidth/servers, or new channels, take priority over giving the final area what everyone else has>?

And I'd be curious when those of you responders defend Verizon's practices in this issue, or say it isnt important and why are we complaining, to note whether you  have the upgraded features and when you got them.

Really pretty simple, assuming you are referring to the one-time fee for the 7232: Most of the rest of us (maybe all) paid the $40 to get the 7232. I think you absolutely, positively should too!!!! Smiley Very Happy

I got my 7232 early in 2011, well before I got 1.9, the main reason was for the extra storage as I had activated multi-room on my 6416 and suddenly my wife wanted to record and watch stuff, and never, ever delete it (or ever let me delete it). I have never used the eSATA port, and I don't expect to, and I wonder, how many people even know about it, much less actually use it? I bet very few.....and if you want to get a DVR that supports eSATA and multi-hub, just contact Verizon and get a 7216, won't cost you a cent, and you will be ready when 1.9 does make it your way.

Edit: to answer your question about when I got 1.9, late August 2011.

Justin,

I do have two 7232 DVR's( for which I did pay the $40), but they cannot talk to one another, as far as I know, or see the recordings on the other DVR without 1.9 (multi-hub capabilities).

And yes, that and SATA  are features that  are  important to me, because I like to store movies to watch when no new episodes of shows I watch, or  VOD, is on TV,  more than the 7232 can handle .I was told over a year ago this was coming very shortly, when I signed my contract.

Judging by the increasing vitriole on this thread, and on Joe's twitter feed, I think a  lot of people would use the sata port.

And I wont be able to judge the new features for at least 4-5 months after you got it.
