I do have two 7232 DVR's( for which I did pay the $40), but they cannot talk to one another, as far as I know, or see the recordings on the other DVR without 1.9 (multi-hub capabilities).
And yes, that and SATA are features that are important to me, because I like to store movies to watch when no new episodes of shows I watch, or VOD, is on TV, more than the 7232 can handle .I was told over a year ago this was coming very shortly, when I signed my contract.
Judging by the increasing vitriole on this thread, and on Joe's twitter feed, I think a lot of people would use the sata port.
And I wont be able to judge the new features for at least 4-5 months after you got it.
1) Yes, you do need 1.9 for those features. I am fortunate to have 1.9, but I do not use either of those features, nor do I expect to use them in the future. So should I perhaps pay less than someone who does? Sounds good to me.....
2) Just curious, who told you over a year ago it was "coming very shortly"? Since the Beta did not even begin until less than a year ago, I can't imagine someone with real knowledge telling you it was "coming very shortly", although I guess it depends on your and their definition of "very shortly."
3) I have read somewhere that Verizon has somewhere between 3 and 4 million FiOS TV subscribers with over 7 million STBs deployed (I have no way to verify those numbers). Now out of that number, how many are complaining here and on Joe's thread and on Twitter (and other places....)? 10 different people? 20? 50? 100? 500? 1000? More? I have no idea, but if you think in terms of millions of users, whatever the number is, it is miniscule. Plus, from what I have read, the availability right now of external hard drives is really bad due to the flooding in Thailand where most of the factories are. Prices have supposedly gone through the roof, now is not a time I would be looking to buy a drive.
4) Well, I got 1.9 8 months or so after the Beta folks (and I would have happily participated in the Beta if my area had been included), then I guess 4 or 5 months after the first public rollout. So what is the difference between your experience and mine? I had to wait too.....
I sympathize with you, I understand you want it and are frustrated. But your being frustrated isn't going to change a thing, Verizon is going to deliver 1.9 to you when they decide to. As far as I can see, any number of things have conspired to affect delivery to your area:
a) Weather? (hurricane, flooding, snowstorm)
b) Labor dispute? (and I wonder if maybe the latest delay may not be related to this issue resurfacing since nothing was actually resoved, right???)
c) Some "undefined" problems at the DAC serving your area, unrelated to 1.9 itself? (I have no idea what they might be, but I think there is some truth to this)
d) Others? (I have no clue)
I really think that if there were serious problems with 1.9 Verizon would not have continued the rollout in the rest of the country. So I believe there are outside factors that none of us outside of Verizon understand for why you do not yet have 1.9.

Isn't it kind of sad and ironic how even at this time during the holidays, these complaints about certain parts of the country not yet having their Verizon IMG 1.9 are still raging on and on?
Its about verizon repeatedly delaying features to the last zone, which happens to be us, for unknown reasons, which most of the country already has, to an absurd degree.

I don't believe that and I'm sorry you feel that way. Quite honestly, I disagree with your interpretation of what is going on and the way you are thinking about all of this. That's why it's hard for me to really say anything further about this because a lot of people here, including at least one Verizon employee, have taken the time to address your concerns and it just seems like you're not going to be satisfied with what anyone is telling you. It's like you either get this long awaited update now or it's the end of the world and I think that's sad. And I'm not saying any of this to be mean to any of you but I really do think that's unfortunate. I seriously don't believe that Verizon is dragging its feet on this purposely just for your area. How are going to reach a conclusion like that when you don't have all the facts straight or know all the details?

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I really don't feel sorry for you but if it bothers you that much, then maybe you should consider switching providers so you can put this issue behind you and move on already. This whole thing is getting old and tired and all of this emphasis on having every single upgrade when you want it or else is pretty sad. Maybe you need to step back and re-examine what is really bothering you or just question how important this really is, if it's really within your control, and if it's really worth so much time and energy getting so upset about.
I get so tired of hearing about all of this emphasis on material possessions in this country, just in general, not just in the context of what you are complaining about here, that I really am to a point of tuning it out. It's such a waste and the way people raise this a level of importance above so many other more essential things is terrible. I didn't get my IMG 1.9 until several months after the first "announcements" were made and the did the sky fall? No, not in the least and in fact, maybe my initial ignorance about this was a bliss since I had discarded the Spotlight magazines and didn't know anything about this until it happened. There are so many more important things I have had to focus on.

NY is the largest media market in America and we would like everyone there to have our latest and greatest as soon as possible. You sound really excited about the coming upgrades, and you've let us know we can't get them to you fast enough. We get it. We hear you. We want that too.
Joe Ambeault, in his twitter feed, stated that the latest upgrade delay to our area is due to "other activity on the network".
Is it possible that the xbox rollout is that activity, such as taking up the apparent finite customer support, and if so why in the world should that happen before finalizing the 1.9 rollout?
We really don't comment on speculation, so let me put it this way...
A fairly common cycle in in online communcation is for people to take publicly available information, use that to try to understand why things are happening that they do not understand, and then get upset because the pattern they perceive (this is connected to that) does not make any sense.
In this thread you are working hard to understand why the rollout schedule has ended up the way it is, but the data you have is a small subset of the total and much of it is completely unrelated. Adding to the frustration, I am sure, is that in some cases we actually can't communicate to you the complete information you are looking for because we must respect reasonable rules regarding maintaining confidentiality of proprietary business information.
We all want the upgrade to be completed as soon as possible. Its a complicated task to complete and it doesn't always go according to plan. We don't like it either when that happens.
Just want you to know your prompt response is appreciated. Doesnt resolve our frustration, but its nice to know someone is willing to have dialogue with us.

And yes, I definitely agree with your observation of how it's all too easy for people to get the wrong idea about things based on limited information posted on line, particularly when they're trying to make sense of something without knowing all the details.
