New Guide Format: in a word - horrid.

1.  It's S_L_O_W.

2.  Low contrast, pastels are hard to read.

3.  Time-frame of only 90 minutes makes for VERY tedious browsing.

4.  The channel legend takes half of the screen.

5.  Scrolling is jerky and delayed.

This isn't an improvement, it's overloading what should be simple with too many bells & whistles.  Keep it simple and useful.  It should be a tool, it's not the main attraction.

It sounds like you have a 6xxx series set-top-box. You can get it exchanged for a 7xxx series box which will be much faster and support widescreen, high-res guides and menus.

Will they bring it to us?  My husband can't get there and I work all day with a long commute. To say it's difficult for us to go and get it would be an understatement.

And I guess that means I lose all the programs I have recorded. Not good.

I do believe you can order it through customer service and have it shipped to you, but that will likely incur a fee to cover shipping (because they ship those things literally overnight.)

Yes, that is an unfortunate side-effect.

My 84 year old mother with poor eyesight has the latest Motorola 7232-P2 500 gb HD DVR and the text contrast is terrible. With the light blue background, she cannot read the text. She was able to read the text (barely) before this update when the background was dark. The background should be black or at least an option to set it to black.

There are many people with eyesight issues. There are more people that have eyesight issues than those with perfect eyesight and everybody's eyesight gets worse eventually. There is no good reason why Verizon decided to make the text so much more difficult to read and to upset and anger so many customers. My mother told me tonight that we should switch back to Cablevision. I hope Verizon management is reading this.

Wow. What a poor way to treat customers. A forced upgrade for which we have to foot the bill and lose data to boot.  We don't watch all that many channels now, so we aren't really getting our money's worth, maybe internet tv is a better way to go for us anyway.  It's a shame. We have been with FiOs since it first came to the island.

From what I understand, there is no charge to upgrade your set top box from a 6000 to the 7000 series.

I agree the pastel background is terrible along with the smaller font size/typeset!. This is the same dumb "enhancement" Microsoft did to the default background of its updated MS Word software. <Was the change done using M-software for its base application???> At least MS provided you with 2 other optional background color preferences. I switched my background color to black so that there was some contrast enabling you to see the icons and selected commands. The very least Verizon should do is provide us with a (darker) background option through one of the preference menus.

 HOW ABOUT IT VERIZON?!
