Who thought this was a good idea???  The text  contrast is bad, the favorites list is hard to navigate and has too few listings.

This smells like a "new coke: problem...how do I get the old interface back?????

One more thing, why on earth would you ever have a little "remote" sign blink in the upper left hand corner when you hit a key on the remote...this is very annoying and unnecessary.  I change the volume a couple of clicks and the word "remote" blinks 8 times!!  Please remove this "enhancement"!!!!

1.9 is all around bad.  It is so slow now on my 6416, it takes forever to navigate the menus.  Hating it.

I do not see these problems on my boxes.  I have a 500 gig multiroom dvr and HD box and a SD box

I agree the new 1.9 guide layout is hard to read and hard on the eyes. They made the font smaller and took the left side of the guide only to show the stations logo.  I miss the old guide.

They should of kept the layout the same with adding the new features.  There should be a way to change the "SKIN" to the old layout.

Also when I go to the guide and hold down one of the arrow buttons.  Th scrolling is now jumpy..  On every box.  It is no longer smooth scrolling.  It is anoying to say the least.

I don't agree with most compaints about the new guide. I find it very easy to read.

But I do fault Verizon with forcing these on the 6000 series, without making it easier to upgrade. You really should call your local fios store because it runs much better on the newer models.

The blinking "remote" sign indicates that the batteries in your remote are low. Replace the batteries with fresh ones, and the indicator will go away.

One "small" issue with this solution is that my remote was working fine..No directional issues which is a telltale sign of a weak battery..Perhaps the batteries still have (guess) 20% left...hummm...2 batteries x 20% x how many users? x how many years? = a lot of wasted batteries...Not too green if you ask me...I might be a bit off on this, but you get my point.

Burticus: get a 7000 box...

I don't even think Verizon wants the 6000s on their network anymore. They'll be happy to replace it, I'm sure.

The reason the 6xxx series set-top-boxes doesn't support all the features the 1.9 offers is that the hardware can not support the added demands of the 1.9 software features. Example: The guide does not show in full screen on a 6xxx series set-top-box. as time goes on. New set-top-boxes will be replaced with newer models(based on inventory of course) that can handle the software demands.
