TV Guide NEW CONTRAST is very hard to read

I hate the new guide that you came out with a few months ago.  It is very hard to read.  My father has called me on numerous occasions to complain and see if I can fix for him.  He is 88 and now has to get up from his chair and stand in front of the TV to read what is on the screen.  He never had to do this with the old format.  I can sympathize with him since I find it difficult to read as well.

He is now wanting a set of binoculars to see if he can read the guide through them so he doesn't constantly have to get up and read the screen.  Do y'all not have a group evaluate things like this before you roll out these changes or at the very least give people the option of adjusting the color scheme to be what is best for them.

Welcome to the blogs.  This question has been answered many times:  I had precisely the same problem with mine and it was because my TV was analog.  So I replaced the TV with a flatscreen and that resolved the problem.  The resolution on an analog TV is limited and is unable to properly handle the HD graphics so if reading it is your father's only problem, that's all that has be done.  I doubt it's his eyesight because I had exactly the same problem and my vision is 20/20 with glasses.  His STB/DVR should also be at least a 7xxx series.

I understand that this new program was tested first and that it's being rolled out gradually from one region to another.

Probably being considered for the future.  As mentioned it looks okay on many new digital screens, and probably is why those who worked on it didn't see a problem.  What many have suggested is user selectable color schemes and fonts.

"Probably being considered for the future.  As mentioned it looks okay on many new digital screens, and probably is why those who worked on it didn't see a problem. "  Yeah right!  I'm not buying a word of that - oh sure it looked OK when they viewed it.  Give me a break.  That's not very smart.  It's no wonder why their customer service stinks.  Just another excuse to take the cheap way out and be shortsighted and then realize, "oh yeah, maybe we should plan ahead next time and make the upgraded equipment available because now we're losing customers and it doesn't work properly on their outdated equipment and we didn't think they would need an upgrade."  Duhh!  I could have told them that myself.  I am not impressed.

It was said in the notices that went out about this that the 7xxx series would be needed for this and it has also been said here consistently that the 6000 series can't handle the HDD.  Put 2 and 2 together....so stupid!  So now we should deny it?  lol...What digital screens and STBs were these testers using?  No wonder why people get so fed up with this and switch providers.  None of these businesses which now monopolize the industry care or have any consideration for their customers.  Where is the common sense?  I myself have dealt with my share of reps who don't make any sense.  What a waste and a lack of consistency!

I swear if I ever have to switch, I won't be surprised.  It's disgusting the way these corporate giants have taken over putting people at their mercy and treating customers like garbage when there is a problem.  I have been there myself plenty of times.  And the choices stink.  Basically it's a choice between all of these extra stations and all of this other garbage or no decent TV reception at all.

Not just the contrast. Font size is too small (does not fill the cell). So much wasted blank space. Today I just moved from Comcast to Fios. I am ready to go back  to Comcast before my 30 trial expires. Did anybody with any brains at Verizon look at this guide before they released it ? It is HORRIFIC ! It is a struggle to read. How stupid. If there is no one at Verizon who has the ability to figure out a good solution.........I have one.....copy the Comcast guide.
