Automatic billing and contracts

Let me start by saying I am at fault in not checking my monthly billing from Verizon.not realizing the amount could change dramatically without prior notification.  I trusted Verizon to withdraw directly from my account based on ouor intial contract agreement.  When the agreement expired, the amount substantially increased and we were not notified.  I'm sure if we had made a change that interfered with payment you would have contacted me quickly.  I think this is a Verizon policy that is completely disrespectful of their customers.  I have cancelled my account today.
