This is looking like an issue that will need a Verizon rep to review your account.
Here are links with all means to contact Verizon: http://www22.verizon.com/content/ContactUs/. The Chat link will load after the page is fully loaded.

I agree with you and was also surprised to be forced to take the FREE trial offer that really must be good since you can not refuse it.
Well, you can cancel it you remember to do it before it cancels your paper bill. You have to do a separate contact/conversation to tell them you do not want it after you just accepted it.
It does not tell you ahead of time in the "accept" section how to cancel later. At least I could not find it.
So I canceled payment and started calling customer reps for help.
I talked to several customer reps.
Customer service people were VERY sympathetic but could not help me since this is a corporate process.
This is what I learned:
1) Verizon has no provisions for paying a bill while talking to a real, live person.
2) One Verizon customer service rep said she was told you did not have to take the FREE trial offer; you could just make a one time regular payment without being forced to take the FREE offer. I went back and tried 3 more times to avoid the FREE offer. I was not smart enough to do it.
This is a wrong headed idea that can easily be corrected by using an opt out button. Just like everyone else does when they want to offer you a FREE service.
But that is just my opinion.
Thank you.

PS-This FREE feature is not yet in the on line bill pay Verizon Wireless system yet.
