Renewing contract without my consent

Today I called Verizon support To see if I could change my services to just internet because I barely watch tv or use the phone service I knew my contract was supposed to be up by June so I was planning ahead asking about prices I asked the lady on the phone when my contract would be up just to make sure and she tells me that my contract is up in 2019 !!! I ask to speak to a supervisor she puts him on the phone and he tells me that they sent me an email that I did not receive and that I never confirmed so they assumed that meant I wanted to renew my contract I’m so angry this is a complete scam to rob hard working peoples money
