Slow/Unresponsive Website: realtime Usage/

Ive seen Multiple Threads in this page for this problem... but this is a big problem...  This website REALLY needs an overhaul..

When Trying to access MYVerizon  I am constantly finding it down or Painfully slow.

Secondly... Another topic that Ive seen brought up many many times... Real time call usage... ive seen other providers usage page with only at most a 15 minute delay...I see no reason why Verizon can't have the same... versus make us wait 24 hours for sometimes a partial history of the perevious days calls...

On the "Overview" section of My verizon... it will update constantly throughout the day... with Estimates of Minutes ... so if that can update, why cant we see Call detail updates throughout the day?

Try deleting your cookies to see if that helps speed up the process on the website.

The systems has up to a 24 hour delay due to the fact that the usage from other carriers cell towers aren't calculated in at the same time Verizon Wireless calculates their usage. Therefore, we have to wait until they send us the usage that our customers have on their towers.

No, it is not a cookies issue.  I have tried accessing MyVerizon from five different browsers on two different operating systems and it is painfully slow any way I try it.  I can delete the entire Firefox user directory (which makes Firefox recreate it as a new installation) and it makes no difference.

I have tried this using: Firefox 3.5 on Linux; Opera 10.10 on Linux; Firefox 3.5 on Windows XP; Internet Explorer 6 on XP; and Internet Explorer 8 on XP.

Here are some times:

http://www.verizonwireless.com draws up in 6 seconds.  (This proves my connection is fine.)

From there, entering a username and password to get the MyVerizon Overview page takes two minutes.  Things draw up one slow piece at a time.

Clicking on My Services from there takes 70 seconds to draw up.

Clicking on the Friends and Family list takes 65 seconds to draw up.

The site is almost unusable because it's so slow.  Verizon support suggested I reboot my modem and router, which I knew would not make a difference but I did it anyway just to say I'd tried.  No improvement.

I had this horrible problem also with Firefox in Ubuntu.

Found this tip on the Ubuntu forums and now Verizon's website is the same as any other website...

gksudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf

...add the following two lines

net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 16384 131072
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 174760

...then restart sysctl with

sudo sysctl -p

Wow... that's the first time I've heard someone suggest using superuser privileges on a Linux system to make a website work that should inherently do so anyway.

Verizon, you seriously need to fix your website.  Use the buckets of money that I pay you and upgrade your server, please.  It takes over a minute to load most pages, then when I get distracted doing, you know, something else worth my time, the session times out and I have to do it all over again.  You guys are calling me expecting payments when your website is incapable of accepting them.  If you want my money, FIX THIS.

This is a tcp_window_size issue, as tcpdump indicated--->I think currently it affects only linux users with kernel >= 2.6.17

Two workarounds:

1. echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling, turn off window scaling.

This limits the window size to 64k, so you should be aware this is only a temporarily work around. After you complete the usage of verizonwireless you should turn it on again

2. set the window size back to kernel version before 2.6.17, provided by the craigeo.

This is better than the first one, but there is still possibility that you may encounter a huge window size in future.

In all, since most of the users use verizonwireless only once a month, it should be no problem to temporariy adopt one of these two workarounds.

Once again... tonight  MY Verizon completely down...backup assistant syncing took me forever to get to... on all three different browsers actually before we play that card: Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome..

This needs to be fixed... at this point the site is down/slow/unresponsive > 50% of the time

Other poeople that agree

I can't access any information on my verizon right now--it says "unavailable" for everything.  Is there system maintainance or something? Because if so, it would be helpful for Verizon to say it on the log on page and for how long the system will not be working.  Every other website that has account management does this.
