VERIZON ALLOWING SCAMMERS TO CHEAT IT'S CUSTOMERS

I have been trying to speak to someone at Verizon, and e-mail them, concerning the rip-off experience I have suffered as a result of Verizon's participation in allowing companies like American Evoice, ESBI, PaymentOne and EBusiness, to add expensive and false charges on our Verizon bills.

I recently discovered that two of these companies, charged me $15, and over $20, every month, for 'services' that I never authorized, nor asked for, nor wanted, nor used, and these charges were attached to my bills for between 1 year and 3 years!

And now, no one at Verizon is willing to take any responsibility for there participation in this act, which is called "CRAMMING".

Everyone I write to or call at Verizon, tell me it is not their fault and anyway they are not the right person to speak to.  REALLY?

OK. I was stupid not to scrutinize my bill each month and question these charges.  Guilty !!  But, I have many bills to pay each month, and I pay for it all on-line, so I didn't pay that much attention.

But still, I'll have you know that these companies are NOTORIOUS for scamming customers on Verizon.

I have recently found out that The Today Show have done several stories on this Cramming.

Also, when I looked up American Evoice and Verizon, I found 244,000 hits, complaining of being overcharged, being

ripped off, being scammed, the same way that I was.

Verizon refuses to take any responsibility for this.

Can you imagine how many customers, espeically older ones and younger students, that are not aware of these extra charges

they never asked for but are paying for?   I repeat.  244,000 hits on Google !!!!!

After writing and calling each company, they have agreed to give me a refund or send me a check.

PaymentOne, it appears, have done so.  American Evoice have said today that they will refund me too.  We'll see.

Still the point is that this happens. Not that I caught them.

Let me say that AmericanEvoice claimed that a company called USPRIZEDRAW.COM contacted them 3 times with my e-mail,

an e-mail that they created with gmail, and they had my real home address, and that was enougth to claim that I had authorized

these charges, supposedly for an answering service (I happen to have an answering machine, and rarely use my land line anyway). So, a name, a made up e-mail address, which could easily be created and come to whomever they choose, and an home address, which anyone could get by looking in a phone book.  And that's all it takes!

Are we to really believe that Verizon has NO IDEA that this is going on?  It's all over the internet that this is a scam.

COME ON !!!?????

I checked with friends and relatives and none of us are being charged by those 3rd parties.

If you have a local Verizon (not wireless) Store, they would probably help you. We've had an

excellent experience with our local store.

Good luck!

I got the scammed payments for 2 months and I got on-line chat agent to credit them back and had them disable 3rd party billing "feature" on my account.

That feature should be automatically disabled unless the customer opts in for the feature.

Actually federal regulations require them to allow these third parties to add such charges.  And some of such companies are scum that add such charges without proper authorization by you of services.

Tell Verizon to not allow such charges from anyone.  They will be glad to do so.  Back the request up in writing.  Only with such a request is Verizon allowed to block these third party charges.

Ask Verizon to remove any bogus charges, they will remove them.

Complain to FCC about the company that added the charge.

I've been charged by those companies.  Verizon does know about it.  All you can do is look out for them.  If you do something else though let me know.  Verison SHOULD stop this!!

That's not actually true. You can, as user tns suggested above, call Verizon and have them put a block on all 3rd-party billing for your account. This proactively solves the problem without ever having to "catch" it.
