Verizon now charging me for free set top box

I started with Fios about 1 1/2 years ago and I was given a free set top box (not HD) for signing up with Verizon.

Now because I changed my other set top box from HD/DVR to HD they are charging me for the free set top box also.

They explain that because I changed my HD to non DVR that caused a change in my service.

But I was given a free set top box forever, not till a change was made. Verizon lied to me about the free set top box forever.

This is just another example of Verizon lying and cheating customers.

From the get go I was offered no contract and I could see the ads for a cash back (200 or 300) hundred bucks.  Then when we started into the first few weeks I called to find out about the cash back offer and was told that I was in a contract that gave me a discount for the HD multiroom DVR and I was not eligible for the cash back.

What, I am in a contract - Proves Verizon 100% lied to me

What, no cash back - Proves Verizon 100 % lied to me

Turn down for what, back to cox in 1/2 year it seems.

You need to look at the terms of service.

I think that's total **bleep**. I too have a free set top box forever....

Now, because of your post I'm not going to change a dam thing with them period.

I'm also considering going back to Cox. I had Cox for over 20yrs with no problems before I switched to Verizon.

Verizon's sales people can be very deceptive if you don't listen to what and how they are saying things.

I wanted the phone with digital voice, no my bundle is for the stupid old copper pots enhanced system.

I wanted to see on my TV who was calling and I wanted the phone number blocking service.

They (Verizon) said it's not available here & that's a lie. It's cheaper for them with the old style phone system.

I had to change my phone number and all I get is collection calls for the people who had the number before me and there is nothing I can do.  I had to change my number because when I moved it was to a different service exchange area (where the numbers come out of) but I'm still in the same state.....gerrrr aggravating to say the least.

Cox sales people try and push you to their service and tell you if you don't decide today that they can't guarantee the bundle or discounts they just quoted you. That is what pushed me to stay with Verizon for 2 more years. I don't like pushy sales people and my $$$ spends just fine elsewhere.,

Lesson learned for me.
