removal from credit reports

I am writing concerning my experience with Verizon that is both a grateful “thank-you” and a pressing request concerning a tradeline in my credit files that I would like to have revised.  I'd like to know, if anyone can help, who do I contact at Verizon to ask that tfor a goodwill adjustment to a closed acct/collection entry on my Credit Bureau reports??

This is my experience I'd like to explain to them why the bill wasn’t paid on time and if they would consider removing the collection from my credit report out of goodwill.

In June 2016, at the advice of my divorce attorney I had just hired, I left my residence with my 17 yr old son, as the environment in the home had become toxic and dangerous for us. As this was the situation, my atty advised me to leave immediatelt with what few possessions would could carry and as discreetly as possible to avoid a conflict with my very unstable and hostlie (now divorced from) ex wife.

Within a weeks time, my son and i had an apartment and i notified Verizon of the situation ( i had Verizon services in the home I was leasing previously and all of the equipment was there and the acct was in my name).  As explained above, the extremely hostile situation due to my ex wife prevented me from being able to return to retrieve property, includig the Verizon equipment.  As i was scheduling an appt with Verizon on the phone for tv/internet service in our apartment, the agent informed me they had been in contact with my wife, and that she had requested to transfer the acct under my name into her name with all of the equipment. Of course this was agreeable to me, and i acknowledged I would pay the current bill and would not have further liability. I paid the "final" bill within the due date and believed that the issues was resolved Verizon anyway, LOL).

NOT so much.  In October (4 months later) I received (out of nowhere) a bill for almost $2000!! The bill included 4 months of service (June-Sept/Oct) and $500 each for 3 set top boxes!!!  I immediately informed my atty of what my wife had done and we obviously agreed i had to call Verizon immediately, which I did.

In my phone conversation with a Verizon Billing Agent I explained everything. Also, that as the conversations were recorded they'd have evidence confirming all of this. The Agent acknowledged that they did have a phone recording transcript of the conversations, however, my wife never answered there many calls to confirm the transfer and she never called them back. Also, Verizon NEVER callede me back to explain the status of the transfer!  So the account remained open, my wife continued to receive Verizon services under my name and the bills were delivered there, even though I had opened a PO Box 2 days after leaving the residence and forwarded all of mine and my sons mail to the PO Box.  (Note: this was not the only only mail or packages she destroyed or prevented me or my son from receiving. There were several Medical bills that also ended up going to collections because i never received them. I finally discovered these accessing my Credit Report thru Credit Karma. Contacted everyone, and paid off all debts immediately).

As this divorce process created some financial hardship for me, it was a short time before I was able to get caught up with all of my monthly bills and past due debts.  As my atty pleaded with her atty to allow my son and I to retrieve our property and the Verizon equipment, time passed, as my wife was belligerentlky uncooperative. Finally, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2016 we were able to retrieve property (her atty had agreed to let us retrieve a pre agreed inventory, of course my wife only provided about less than 1/2 of the inventory, most of the rest was finally retrieved in May 2017, with certain significant items missing and excuses as to why and they are lost forever)  HOWEVER, I did receive the Verizon equipment back, which i returned to Verizon the next Business day and was credited.  I also paid the entire past due bill of some $350+ for all of the service she stole in my name.

Verizon sent my acct to collections (EVEN THOUGH I HAD AND STILL HAVE A CURRENT ACCT WHICH I WAS NEVER, AND STILL TO THIS DAY, LATE ON A PAYMENT???) Which needless to say had quite an adverse affet on my credit score.

Please also note, when I opened this shared acct with my ex wife in 2014? I was never late on a payment and took pride in the fact that all my payments were routinely made in a timely manner.

Since this incident there 3 other debts, medical related, that my wifes action caused to go into collections without my knowledge, during this transition. Like the Verizon acct, I paid everything in full in a timely and expedient manner. ALL of the other collections have thus been removed from my credit reports from the 3 Major Credit Bureaus, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF VERIZON.........which was paid well before the others.

My son and I are hopefull to begin the process of purchasing a new home within the next 1-2 years, and it has come to my attention that the closed act collection from Verizon may prevent me from taking full advantage of the best interest rates available. Since that notation does not reflect my current status with Verizon, I am requesting that you please give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by revising those tradelines. I sincerely hope that there is redemption at Verizon and I plead for such consideration.

I have documentation that would clearly support the facts of the matter (i.e., emails to my aty regarding the Verizon act, and from my atty to her atty, etc...) in reaching a positive outcome, please feel free to contact me.

I thank you again for the time you have spent reading this correspondence.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP IT WOULD BE TRULY AND GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
