two year contract?

i have been a verizon customer for years. i don't know exactly how long and i cant find that information anywhere on this site. i just noticed that i have a two year contract that says it expires in 23 months! i did not renew my contract one month ago. what is the deal with that. i am having so many problems with two of my dvr's and i am thinking to cancel and get another provider for my tv, internet and phone. i have been so unhappy with my dvr and the new channel guide sucks!
