verizon reported me as collections paid

I disconnected my service in oct 2016. later i recieved a call from 3rd party stating I needed to pay the bill, i call verizon to verify and was told by verizon rep there was no balance due and need not pay anything. Then in february some 3rd party called me again, i called verizon again and this time was told that i had a balance on the account, i paid the account immediately. Now they reported my account as collections paid instead of good standing. Can someone please help on how to resolve this? Verizon rep did not give me the right information which led to this issue. I have enjoyed my service with verizon and recommended it to may friends and family. I would like to get this resolved as my credit score has dropped significantly because of this mistake.
