Celebrating National Volunteer Week

by Employee Emeritus on ‎04-13-2011 03:40 PM

It's National Volunteer Week and we're celebrating Verizon Volunteers who give to the communities where they live and work.

Incredible as it may seem, Verizon employee volunteers donated more than 733,000 volunteer hours to communities in the United States and abroad in 2010. That's equal to more than 83 years of volunteer service.

And that's not all.  Every time a Verizon employee volunteers 50 hours or more at a 501(c)3 nonprofit, they can earn a $750 grant from the Verizon Foundation for that organization.

You can see videos highlighting a few of our volunteers on the VZ Corporate Reputation video site. Just click on the word "Volunteers" from the middle menu bar.  There you will see and hear the stories of (below, from left to right) Diane Macias, Edwin Madari, Frank Woods, Sue Thorson and more Verizon employee volunteers.
