Environmental Defense Fund Fellow is "Dialing Up Energy Savings"

by Employee ‎06-22-2010 11:13 PM - edited ‎06-22-2010 11:37 PM

This summer, 51 MBA students, who have been named Environmental Defense Fund fellows, are working at companies like Verizon to identify green opportunities. Now in its third year, the Climate Corps program has delivered results with fellows identifying energy-saving opportunities -- cutting carbon and boosting bottom line, as the folks at EDF like to say.

Recently, posted a blog written by Verizon’s EDF Fellow in which he chronicles his experiences at Verizon so far. We’re glad to welcome Ryan Mallett, a graduate student from Penn State University, to the team and we look forward to together discovering ways to make the company a little (and I hope a lot) greener.

He writes: "According to McKinsey, the potential energy savings from existing energy efficiency measures is estimated at $1.2 trillion through 2020, which translates into 23 percent of our projected energy demand. As an added benefit, we don’t have to worry about it spilling."
