Forum setup: changing email address -> "success" and "unexpected error"

Technical website feedback for Verizon.
I just set up access to these forums by choosing a screen name.
I also changed the email address from the one associated with the account (spouse's) to mine.
I got a confirmation email and clicked the link.
The confirmation page, at
, displayed these contradictory messages: 
 
An Unexpected Error has occurred.
 
The email address was successfully changed.
