Small Business Weekly Roundup

info.pngThe midterm election results could change the landscape somewhat for small business according to this survey taken Wednesday – or at least the hope is that things will get better.  The reality is that any business needs to continually take into account all the variables it can when making decisions to invest, expand or otherwise improve profit margins to deliver a product or service.

According to the Intuit Small Business Employment Index which is a barometer of small business hiring, things began to offer a glimmer of hope in October as hiring actually began to improve after the continued downward slope of the previous few months.  However, it still appears that a lot of businesses are sitting tight and watching their expenditures

In the meantime, the sentiment – as always – is that if entrepreneurs are left to their own devices, they can create jobs to help lead the way out of the current recession.  If you own a small business, you’re basically trying to monetize that great idea you have and the less you have to pay out to bring it to market, so much the better.

So while the macro trends may be a political landscape that’s amenable to minimizing taxes, that doesn’t mean that your work is over.  You’ll still need a good business plan and hopefully some employees as you grow your business.  And remember the Verizon Small Business Center has a nice portfolio of services that can help you in your quest for success!
