Take a look at the video below, and then give me your immediate reaction.

You’re either thinking:

  1. Rocky the Flying Squirrel
  2. Wish I was brave enough to try this.
  3. This guy is nuts.

Am I right? Well, whatever you’re reaction, there’s no denying that what this guy is doing is pretty amazing. Who is this guy? He’s the FiOS Speed Guy and he’s here to help us announce our amazing new FiOS Quantum Internet speeds of 50, 75, 150 and 300 Mbps on the download and 35 and 65 Mbps on the upload. FiOS Quantum Internet became available today. You can read about it at

Throughout the coming weeks and months, you’ll be seeing a lot of FiOS Speed Guy as he zooms around the country and into your house, delivering the message that Verizon now has top Internet speeds that more than double the fastest speeds that were previously available in theU.S.And THOSE speeds were offered only by us.

The genesis of FiOS Speed Guy are the daring young men and women known as Base Jumpers, those brave souls who climb mountain peaks and dive off into the air in specially designed suits that make them look like flying squirrels. These folks travel at lightening speeds, and that’s really the point. Like FiOS Speed Guy, FiOS Quantum Internet travels at insane speeds.

In the coming weeks and months you’ll be seeing FiOS Speed Guy at promotional events and in digital and social media, television commercials, newspaper, radio, and outdoor advertising campaigns, and direct mail.

FiOS Speed Guy also will be the focal point of an exciting sweepstakes that Verizon will soon be promoting. The FiOS Speed Adventure Sweepstakes will give visitors to our facebook page plenty of chances to win some fabulous prizes once-in-a-lifetime speed-related prizes including a trip to Las Vegas to attend flight school at Air Combat USA, a Supercar experience in Las Vegas, a chance to attend America’s Cup and ride on a yacht in the San Diego Bay; a rafting and zip lining experience in Brown’s Canyon on the Arkansas River, a rally driving experience, and a stock car experience.

The video we’ve posted here gives you just a glimpse of what FiOS Speed Guy is all about. Visit our facebook page to do something very cool. Type in your address you can see a street level view of FiOS Space Guy virtually flying into your house. While you’re at our facebook page, you can go behind the scenes of the filming of FiOS Speed Guy, learn the four truths about Internet speed, test the speed of your own Internet service, and join the conversation regarding Internet speeds via a live Twitter feed.

Featuring FiOS Speed Guy in our promotional campaigns is a clever and fun way to tie in the message that a revolution in Internet speeds is preparing to take flight.

Hey, FiOS Speed Guy may be brave, he may be nuts, and he may look like Rocky the Flying Squirrel. But he’s a lot of fun. Enjoy.
