Our customers who have the FiOS Quantum Gateway router will now have access to a number of new parental controls and guest Wi-Fi capabilities. With this latest router update, parents can easily grant or restrict Internet access to any device on their home FiOS network. 150122_FamilyFiOS_640x400.jpg

141202_ISPRank.pngEvery year, PCMag surveys hundreds of thousands of everyday users to find out which ISP is best delivering the speeds they need to power their lives. Once again, our customers indicated that Verizon FiOS Internet delivered the fastest connections in the nation.

Our customers are game changers, creators, and impact makers, so this is why we are humbled to be able to provide them with the speediest, most reliable connections they need today and well into the future.

141101_GatewayRouter_640x400.jpgYou know the moment.  You’re watching a great episode of your favorite TV show on your tablet and all of a sudden… It buffers because you moved rooms?

Starting today, we’re offering the new FiOS Quantum Gateway, the fastest, most flexible router Verizon has ever offered.

If you’re wondering what the big deal is, it’s simple. At home and work, we’re all  increasingly relying on Wi-Fi for everything from watching HD video, uploading photos, working from home, video conferencing and more. This latest addition helps you do more.

Faster than a…

Everything is getting faster. Be it cars, trains, or flying humans (to just name a few), it seems like every time we look up, there’s some speed record being set. Of course, all of this is not just limited to physical objects and people. Life itself keeps speeding up. Every day, we are expected to do more, to watch more, to read more, to LIVE more in less time!

Fortunately, FiOS is there to make keeping up as easy as pie (which I’m sure is somehow getting faster, too). FiOS is the only major cable provider in the U.S. to provide a fiber to the home (FTTH) connection, a big reason why FiOS recently ranked #1 in internet speeds in testing done by readers of PCMag. With blistering fast download and streaming speeds, let FiOS be your guide in an increasingly accelerated world.

To give you an idea of how fast internet speeds have gotten since the early days of the internet, take a closer look at how much faster download and upload speeds have gotten since 2000:

Broadband Speed: Households Served By FiOS Can Enjoy It All

It’s always great to be favorably recognized.  When a big tip of the cap comes (like it did this week) from the public at large, however, the honor is all the more humbling and meaningful.

It’s not every day that a large base of consumers rates your flagship service - in this case Verizon FiOS - as the nation’s highest rated and widely available TV, Internet and phone bundle provider in a nationally recognized third-party consumer publication.

FiOS Internet, first offered in August 2004, recently surpassed the 5 million customer mark (that’s a 36 percent penetration in areas where service is offered).

Verizon Talks to Beet.TV About Broadband Speed

From the recent launch of Verizon’s LTE network to the 150/35 Mbps FiOS speeds introduced a few weeks ago, you have heard a lot of news from us about broadband speed, but here at Verizon, we are always looking to the future.

Verizon’s Joe Ambeault recently talked with Beet.TV about speed and why it is important to consumers today and for many years to come. You can watch the video here.

According to Joe, today’s broadband speeds often become an issue for family members when they’re trying to use their Internet connection simultaneously. On smaller connections, they are forced to make compromises whether it’s decreased video quality or decreased download speeds.

All This Broadband Speed, So Now What?

fios copy.jpgIf you missed the sonic boom heard around the broadband world last week, we introduced our newest FiOS Internet speed offer of 150/35 Mbps. The new service has the fastest Internet speeds available to consumers, and it’s 50 times faster than anything our competitors can offer.  Soon, we’ll extend our new fastest Internet service to our small business customers, so stay tuned for more details this month.

Reaction from the news media has been terrific.  CNET said Verizon has been pushing the envelope since we began offering the FiOS service.  Other news outlets like the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal reported that FiOS, with the addition of the new industry fastest service, claimed the Internet speed crown while leapfrogging past competitors.

Faster Internet Speeds on Verizon’s Copper Network

1443i0828718FC63BE389We spend a lot of time talking about FiOS here at the Verizon at Home blog, but today we have some great news for millions of Verizon High Speed Internet (HSI) customers served by our reliable copper network.

We’ve more than doubled our existing maximum HSI download speeds to 10 to 15 Mbps/1 Mbps  for communities that run the gamut from Barstow in California’s Mojave Desert to Lynchburg, Virginia.  We know that speed matters wherever you are, and the fact is that our copper network has proven itself highly reliable and valuable over the years in providing a great Internet connection and service for customers with a thirst for bandwidth.
