FiOS TV Adds 3D Movies on Demand

by on ‎10-29-2010 11:26 AM

family_movies.JPGWe’ve had quite a bit of 3D news to share this year, with the Yankees-Mariners games during the summer and the Giants-Patriots game back in September.  Today we’re announcing even more 3D programming with ten 3D movies on FiOS TV Video on Demand.

Starting Nov. 16 with the premiere of “Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore,” we’ll feature eight 3D films in November and two more in December.

The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games on FiOS TV

by Employee ‎01-14-2010 10:11 AM - edited ‎01-14-2010 01:05 PM

skate.JPGI'm counting down: 29 days until the Winter Olympics begin. And I'm excited. I can't wait to watch Apolo Ohno race and possibly become the most decorated American at the Winter Games. My FiOS TV DVR will be set for the women's figure skating - especially if Sasha Cohen makes the team. And there's always the fun of trying to figure out exactly how the sport of curling actually works. If you're lucky like me, you are a FiOS customer, which means you'll get a whole lot more than just watching the Olympics on your TV set. We'll get everything from live coverage in HD; to an on-screen interactive application with medal counts, athlete bios, news and more; to highlight clips, full events and more online and on Video on Demand. girlTV.JPGAround here, HD is always on our minds, but perhaps more so at this time of year when many of us are making holiday-buying decisions. Buying one of those new HD TV sets? Verizon customer service reps are ready to tell you exactly what you'll need to get the best HD that FiOS has to offer, including a selection of HD set-top boxes. gifts.JPGIf you're anything like me, you are already starting to feel holiday movie overload. I love "It's A Wonderful Life," but I can only watch George Bailey say "Hot Dog" so many times. So, I'm excited that I have some options this year with FiOS TV Video on Demand (VOD). Starting this weekend, we'll be showing a movie marathon from EPIX called "Eight Nights of Woody Allen." So, in the spirit of eight nights of potato latkes, gift giving and spinning the dreidel, this year's Hanukkah also includes eight nights of Woody Allen's most acclaimed films, including "Love & Death," "Interiors" and "The Purple Rose of Cairo." In addition to being available on demand, you'll also find EPIX on channel 395 (SD) and 895 (HD) and online. You can get all this and more, every month, for just $9.99. Read more...

Verizon Leads Cable in VOD. Period.

by Employee ‎10-23-2009 01:50 PM - edited ‎10-23-2009 01:56 PM

OnDemandSMALL.JPGI guess it's no surprise. When we said the other day that we have twice the number of VOD titles publicized by the nation's largest cable company, they didn't like our pointing that out. We announced the continued expansion of our robust FiOS TV Video on Demand library to more than 18,000 titles in every FiOS market. We noted that's nearly double the number of 10,000 titles advertised by Comcast in their own press releases. So Comcast was quick to take umbrage in Multichannel News. "We've got 18,000 VOD titles in Philadelphia!" they cry. (One market, and not surprising, it's their corporate backyard.) "We have more HD in certain markets!" they say. (Wonder how many and where because they didn't specify.) And, of course, they dusted off their tired, old claim that the HD content we offer from Howcast is somehow irrelevant and not of interest to customers. Read more...

mom and daughter thumb.JPGIn today’s television world, one person’s entertainment may be another person’s objectionable material. And recently some have been e-mailing us here to say that they object to some of the things that are out there. So we designed the FiOS system to allow viewers to make their own choices. First, let me note that Verizon has long had a policy that we will not air questionable content in our on-demand trailers. Read more...
