When I receive attachments I cannot open or save downloads. This is what it tells me. Do you want to open or save Attachments.Zip from mail.Verizon.com Open/ Save/Cancel. If I say open or save it opens in Adobe photoshop CS5. I then get a message that it could not complete request because it is not the right kind of document. I have downloaded others attachments, but not in my verizon webmail. If I try to open with adobe reader which I prefer, it tell me it could not open the attachments.zip because it is either not a supported file or has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded. I have in the past been able to save the attachments from my webmail. I don't know what has happened.

Please help I'm not a computer person. This does not happen on all

attachments I open. Just on my webmail.

If it's a .zip file you will need to extract it before you are able to open the file(s) it contains. Save it to your PC, then right-click on the .zip file. Thre should be an Extract All option. Once you have extracted the files, then you should be able to open them.

Important note: .zip files can be used to send harmful files. Make sure the sender of the attachment is someone you trust before opening any of the files.

Excellent advise above  ^^^^^ RR1 you should also reset the default program for windows to open .zip files: http://superuser.com/questions/35503/how-to-restore-windows-default-zip-file-functionality see the 6 step answer by Kimchi "The first post is the long way to perform.... "

Did what you said, saved it to my PC. I then  right clicked on the zip file and there was no option to extract all. What did come up was: Open With:  so I clicked on Adobe Reader but could not open either because it said it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damage.

When I go to Attachments.zip Properties it said open with Adobe Reader . I tried two different zip.file from reliable sources. Still no go.  I think I will just set this aside for now and work on it later. Thank you so much for you help. I am very sorry it took so long to get back to you family matters.

RR1 if you are running windows  you need to change the file association for zip file - In win 7 - right click the zip file - open with  - set it to windows explorer and check always use - OK

If it does not come up as recommended - browse - C - Windows - Explorer.exe   and check always use -OK

As stated above - before you open any attachment right click and you should see and option to SCAN. If not please tell us what malware/antivirus program you are using.

Good advice to always scan an attachment.  Kudos!  However, my problem is that of not being able to save or download the attachment whether it be a photo or a PDF.  I can sometimes view the photo and then save with viewing it and then saving from there.  Really need to be able to download/save attachments.  Have tried everything and still cannot do.  Please help.  Thank you.

Well, I solved my problem of not being able to save images today.  Hoping it will also work with PDF files also and thinking it will.  I had downloaded (not from here, but my pc) Avast which is an excellent antivirus program.  Somehow I had clicked on email safety.  I uninstalled Avast but somehow it stayed with my email here at Verizon WebMail.  And I could not download attachments.  Well, I found that at Avast, I could go into safe mode and download something that was susposed to get rid of the problem.  It did not.  And I did not want to install Avast again to try to remove the mail scanning that was yet preventing my downloads here, as I have other programs intalled on my pc for safety.  So, I did go in my registry and hunted for Avast and removed all but one thing that it would not let me do.  Then I went into safe mode once again and at Start on my pc hunted for Avast and found it in the manifests.  Had to take ownership of about nine or more files there and then delete them.  They stayed there but could not be opened.  I was worried for if they did not go away afer a reboot but found that I had done what I think was right, for the files are gone, and here I am and have downloaded an image.  Hooray!  So, I think that the antivirus program was the problem because it was so entrenched in my pc.  What an experience.  But, the feeling of accomplishment for me is wonderful.  Don't know if it would work for others, but it has for me.  Good luck.

Try this:  Go to Internet Options and Advanced and scroll down to Security and uncheck Do not save encrypted pages to disk.  You can set back after your download is complete if you like.  Worked for me today!   Downloaded PDf document which I needed.  Good luck.
