Email Problems

on 8/12 all of my email inbox messages disappeared (both read & unread) while the line under my screen log in continued to say I had 18 unread mail messages.  From 8/13 -8/19 I received 6 new messages in my inbox.   On 8/22 these messages disappeared from my inbox.  After 20 minutes on the phone with a verizon tech I am now told that the email server has a glitch & messages are being dropped off & that the problem was discovered 8/19.  This only effects my basic email account. My web email account has not been effected.  Is anyone else having this problem.......Pat123

Ever since Verizon "updated" their pages to include all the information I am having trouble retrieving my email.  Everything loads slowly.  I don't particularly care to see my service plans, but would rather get my email first.  My email often is not accessible although I can see I have it, but when I click on it, it can't retrieve it.  I've done this three times tonight already.

Same problems here: 8 out of 10 times I can't retrieve my email. What's going on? I use verizon webmail for many years. All the sudden it becomes totally unreliable. Interesting enough I have this problem mostly in the evening at home (FIOS, wireless) At work or on my EVO (Sprint) I don't have seen these problems.

Both netmail.verizon.net and incoming.verizon.net are unreachable.

Tracert shows they both die after the 4th jump.

Tech support has been completely unable to say when, or even if, the problem will be fixed.

Support status page shows -no-, repeat, -no- issues with verizon email at all.

Thousands of customers affected, and it doesn't rate even a mention on the status page.

Says something about how we are regarded by verzon, doesn't it?

They have been working on the E mail page.  I have had problems also accessing my E mail.  However, every time I get the E mail back improvements have been made to the page.  I am in Baltimore.  I think that they are trying to get the problems solved.  I believe that they should have kept the old page until all the kinks were out of the new page.  Customers would have bee happier.

I am interested in what web page you are referring to. Could you please provide a link? Thanks.

my email and verizon home page have been down since 8/19.  the first 3 calls i made to tech support were not satisfactory, to say the least. the techs were not even aware of a national server problem.  some people in my area have email service... last tech i spoke to said it is an intermittent problem for some users.  she (tech) had no idea when it would be fixed.

pat123,

I'm having similar problems. All my inbox (recent) messages had been deleted/disappeared on 3 different occasions within the past month, twice within this past week. There is nothing in the trash folder either. On a call with tech, I was told that the messages can't be retrieved, that they didn't know of any similar issues reported and my issue was assigned an OSC ticket # for a callback. They also told me to change my password in case someone else had access to my account, which I know is not the cause. Unfortunately, I was away when they called. I tried to call tech today but I couldn't hold on the line any longer after a 30 minute wait. I'll try again later.

On a call for another issue, I mentioned this inbox problem to the tech and was told that Verizon was in the process of upgrading their E-mail service nationwide and that there have been some glitches along the way.

I believe that it would behoove Verizon mgt. to at least notify its customers of any changes it is about to make since it may affect their service, aka, good customer relations. It would save a lot of undue headaches for its customers and also lessen the number of unnecessary calls to its techs. Verizon should also keep their techs informed and in the loop on these things so that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing. This failure to communicate starts from the top on down.

It may be symptomatic of Verizon's management style and its infrastructure or just its hubris.

As of now, I have no faith in the dependability of Verizon's E-mail service and consider it to be unstable.

The question becomes, when will Verizon resolve this issue and will it notify its customers?
