Good email client for Verizon.net email?

Now that Windows Live Mail has been discontinued, I'm looking for a good email client for home for Verizon.net email.

I tried the Mail app that comes with Windows 10, but don't like it for various reasons.

I'm looking for something that can fetch eml files locally, and be able to organize things into collapseable folders and subfolders the way WLM could.   Also would like something compact (one of my beefs with Mail is that it has so many different panes with a lot of wasted screen space)

Outlook is pretty good for this, though I think that's mostly for corporate environment.   Does anyone use Outlook with Verizon.net?   From what I can see though it requires purchase of Office 365; I already have a copy of MS Office (not including Outlook) - don't want to buy a whole redundant office suite just to get the email client, when email client is so basic.

Thanks.

Update - installed Mozilla Thunderbird, and it works well.   Had to use the "app password" method (setting on AOL account).

Also managed to get an old copy of Windows Live Mail to work in the same way.
