I, recently, upgraded my service to Quantum. Now, I find that there is a lag in the opening of messages, completely, in Outlook 2010. Any images in a message, when first opened, appear last with a second or two to be shown. Does there need to be an adjustment to any of the settings? My OS is Windows 7 Home Edition.
IF you are using Outlook to download messages to your hard drive the lag could be normal. As a test try turning off your antivvirus program and opening an attachment that you know is virus free.
