List of Problems with new Web Mail

List of Problems with NEW Web Mail :
- At first doesn't open full page message list or retain full page as default setting, have to drag down bar
- Only shows 20 message lines after “pulling down” the divider, screen partially empty until I scroll down.  It should show at least 26, preferably all available
- After moving bar, bar moves back up after going back to inbox (not delete message) after reading a message, have to move it down again, and again...
- Doesn't go to next message when delete message on screen is selected, no setting option for default to do this.
- There is a drop down to select which folder to move a selected email to.  The initial display shows 7 usable choices, with the usual slider and arrow to show more choices.  The space on the slider clearly shows more choices are present (actually about 20 or so are there), but any attempt to use the slider or arrow to see more choices causes the drop-down to instantly disappear.  I can't move the selected field with arrow keys either.  I can select any of the visible 7 choices, and move an email to only one of the 7.  NOTE: This one works in both IE and Firefox, but if Verizon Webmail was fully web standard (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_standards) compliant it would also work in my preferred browser, Mozilla Seamonkey, the direct descendant of the original Mozilla browser.  Webmail should be FULLY web standard.
- Occasionally a message will move from inbox to trash, without NO indication or command to move them.
- Emails occasionally flash an error message and simply disappear - not to trash or other findable place, just disappear.  No time to read the error message either.
- No way to set a whitelist for supposed spam emails, unless the whitelist for “Blocking” is the same.  Very unclear.
- How can I switch my service back to the original, basic, email which works ok?  I know it’s still there, since some of my other accounts still access it!!!

This seems my only way of getting this info direclty to the programming staff.  If it doesn't actually do this, will SOMEONE PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO THEM !?!

Thanks!

If the display settings for you VZ webmail are set for the new version, once there in the upper right corner you have an option that says GO TO CLASSIC VIEW. Click on that and the display will switch to the previous webmail display. If that's the one you don't like, then the link GO TO NEW EMAIL VERSION will be just above the emails, just off-center at the top. Click on that and it will switch you to the new version.

In regards to you web browser, Seamonkey. The majority of websites are set up the same way for all browsers. It's the software manufacturers responsibility to make their software compatible with websites, not the other way around. Otherwise everyone who has a website will have to make 10 different sites to work multiple browsers. This has been the case since the very beginning, from Netscape to internet explorer to firefox. Even Mozilla Firefox, which today is pretty widely used had to keep tweaking their software to get it to the point they're at today and even then, although it's pretty rare some sites don't display or work as well as they might on another browser. Fortunately, all those products are free to have, and provide good backup if your browser of choice has problems.

Just to mention, my screen didn't have the "go to classic email" button, and I couldn't figure out why.  I ended up contacting verizon and this is an excerpt from the response they gave me:

Amtoz(18:37:33): I would like to inform you that Verizon has upgraded its e-mail to new Verizon 2.0 Webmail and has disabled all the old format, I apologize that we won't be able to switch your e-mail to the old format. There used to be a button to switch back to old format, however this button has now been removed from there.  {edited for privacy}18:39:18): Why did they do that??? And why when I go into the forums, they tell me to click that, if it doesn't exist anymore? {edited for privacy}(18:41:23): Can I get that button back? (I really like the old email, and I really, really hate this new one. Amtoz(18:41:48): The forums have information about the old formats, now they do not have the back or switch buttons. J{edited for privacy}(18:43:18): What if I really hate this new email format? How can I switch back to the old style? Amtoz(18:44:23): I really apologize, however there is no way to switch your e-mail to the old format. You can give it a try by using the link : http://netservices.verizon.net/ to access your e-mails. (by the way, this didn't work).  "

I hated to hear that, but basically they told me I'm screwed and to just except the new email and don't fuss about it.

Just so you know, I can open an email in a (mostly) full window.  First I click on the upper left hand arrow to close the left window, then I click on the upper right hand arrow to close the right window.  Then I double-click on an email message, and it opens in almost a full window.  Just something I found out after a lot of reading.

Contrarily, it is Verizon's, as well as other companies like Verizon whose customer base uses a wide variety of web browsers, web page designers' responsibility to use only standard W3C-recognized code and not to use non-standard non-W3C-recognized code, e.g., Microsoft's Internet Explorer specific code, when designing their web pages. In my opinion based on my observations, Verizon's web page designers are too often guilty of using IE-specific code.

The new Web Mail's Message View pane cannot be disabled. A way to disable the Message View pane needs to be added to Settings, preferably under Display.

Also, when the Block All Images setting is set ON, images are blocked in the Inbox, Draft, Sent, and Trash folders' Message View pane and in tabbed views of messages, but not in the SpamDetector folder's Message View pane or the Compose tab (e.g., when forwarding spam messages to spamdetector.notcaught@verizon.net). This needs to be corrected.

The last thing I want happening is pulling and displaying images from spam sites, and not being able to disable the Message View pane allows this to happen.

I can still go back and forth from the old to the new version of E mail.  I believe you have been misinformed by an uninformed support agent.  I have found several who do not know very much.  Try again with another agent.

Instead, perhaps you could post how you can do it, eh?
