Netmail - Importing Contacts - Does It Really Work?

I've been trying to import contact into Verizon's Netmail v2.0 Contact for a long while now and I'm curious to know if anyone has had ANY success at this.

I've tried it from two directions.

(a) At home

Here I'm in Apple-land and I've exported my Apple Mac (OSX 10.5.8) Address Book (4.1.2 (702)) using

AddressBook2CSV Exporter (by Antonio Lorèto a .csv.

Log into Verizon Webmail, v2.0.

Click on Contacts.

Actions -> Import Contacts

Import Contacts from a file (.csv)

I select…

.csv

Microsoft Outlook

Select no group.

And I get…

      Import CSV

      CSV import Failed

Every time.

(b) At work (we're all PC based there)

MS Outlook 2007 (v12.0.6535)

File -> Import/Export -> Export to a file -> Comma Separated Values (both DOS and Windows)

Exported Contacts with all the mappings in default.

Log into Verizon Webmail, v2.0.

Click on Contacts.

Actions -> Import Contacts

Import Contacts from a file (.csv)

Select…

.csv

Microsoft Outlook

Select no group.

And I get…

     Import CSV

     CSV import Failed

Every time.

At one time there was a limit on how many contacts could be imported (something like a 100 or so). Does anyone know if there is still a limit? If so, why does the app not burp that this is the problem?

That aside, any suggestions? I’m not necessarily surprised that my Mac generated .csv might have an issue. However, a .csv from MS Outlook (not Express)? Really? That's just... well so very Microsoft.

Any ideas thoughts or a nod from a Verizon admin that, in fact, the import doesn't work would be appreciated.

thxs!

cheers

When I've gotten the feature to work, it's always been from a pc (no Mac readily available for testing) and exporting ONLY the first name, last name, and email address fields from Outlook/OE/Windows Mail.

I imagine that at the very least, you will be limited by the number of contacts you are allowed to have in your address book (I believe it's 300). So if you have 100 in there already, you can probably add only 200 max.

Let me know if you still have trouble, I'll try to play with it when I get some time. 🙂

Nope. Not a sausage.

Took a small group, ten or so, contacts and exported with ONLY email. Failed again.

Thanks for the help, but I'm really not buying it's working these days. <g>

cheers!

This is the message I got when I tried just now:

"Due to techincal difficulties we are unable to process your file. Please try again later."

What chance do you think we have when they can't even spell "technical" right?
