SPAM Filter Issues for Email

I don't understand how I can continue to get 20+ SPAM emails a day that the filter does not catch.  I even login and tag them as SPAM per the instructions.  I even forward the emails to "report SPAM" email alias, yet they keep on coming...same ones, over and over.  I actually forwarded my verizon email to a live.com email address for about a week and it caught EVERY SPAM email that verizon didn't.  Can ANYONE give me some advice on how to fix this issue?  I want to keep my email address @ Verizon but I'm close to bailing on it....thanks in advance for any help!

there is no reason to drop the VZ email address. I recently changed to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and it does a good job of spam filtering with the verizon account.. Best part it is free & often updated. It is very easy to setup and has many more useful features than verizon's mail. Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion....I actually use Outlook 365 w/McAfee and it does filter almost all of my verizon SPAM, but I still get the SPAM on my iPhone.  I know there are work arounds to avoid this issue, but the fact that Verizon cannot (or will not) block this SPAM with their filter is confusing to me...

If you keep getting SPAM from the same email addresses you can add the email addressses to the block list which will stop the SPAM.

The filters have limits and still don't work have the time. Verizon is so behind the times in being current with their e-mail in many ways including the POP servers. Verizon needs to invest in a new team of peolple who understand current client needs and e-mail trends. I get more spam in my inbox then I get real e-mail and my filters are full. Forwarding the e-mails to spam@verizon.net & abuse@verizon.net doesn't seem to help either. I getting ready to dump verizon and go to Comcast, especially after losing the weather channel - how stupid was that! The cost of of getting new customers based on 1 years offers is only a short term solution to failure!

I finally bailed...support at verizon is useless...conflicting and mediocre advice from techs.  I now use gmail...it effectivly and easily washes all my spam...anything i want to keep i simply forward to my verizon account.  When i then open my verizon account it is virtually spam free and i have my forwards TO SAVE AND WORK WITH...WHY CANT VERIZON STOP THE SPAM...???

I have the opposite problem. My Verizon account is virtually SPAM free and my AOL account is full of it.

I am sick and tired of the USELESS Verizon spam filtering! I often find a joke to send to as few as 6 friends, and often Verizon won't let me send it claiming it is spam! Yet, now I keep getting SPAM from an outfit in Ontario, Canada (often as many as15 to 20 per day). I try to use the UNSUBSCRIBE link and it asks you to input letters from a box shown. When you input them, it keeps saying you are inputting the wrong letters.

This is sickening! I am ready to dump Verizon for not only internet, but telephone as well as both cell phone lines. Their service stinks!

The Verizon Spam Filter only allows a user to create a MAX of 50 such filters which literally renders it USELESS. Today is Aug 26, 2015. As of today I have received 744 SPAM EMAILS or an average of 28.62 PER DAY! ONLY a VERY FEW have been CAPTURED by the "so-called VZ SPAM FILTER". How VZ can continue to advertise they have a SPAM FILTER, seems like deceptive Advertising. IT IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

I find that recently the spam filter has stopped working like they used to.  It has been about 8 weeks and I get about 20 to 25 spam mails a day. In the past I ddn't get that many in 6 months.  I believe Verizon recently sold out to another company and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.  I checked my filters and they are on.  I cannot possibly anticipate who is going to send spam to me and or guess at their subject line.  Spammers are clever at disguising words with symbols etc.  I tried to go on chat to talk to Verizon about it and I got booted out before I got started.
