I've seen messages from years back about similar issues.  But not much recently.  I've followed the directions explicitly for setting up the account on iPhone.  I get all different varieties of Account/Password don't work.  Sometimes it's about the SMTP, sometimes the POP, it's a mess.   This used to happen every few months w/o any changes to servers or passwords.  Is something specific going on now?

 

I'd really like to be able to access my account on my iPhone - preferably with IMAP so i can get all my folders.

 

Is anybody else currently experiencing this issue?

Neither IPhone nor iPad are receiving/sending mail. Messsage -"CANNOT GET MAIL. THE USER NAME OR PASSWORD FOR VERIZON IS INCORRECT".  NO, I HAVE NOT CHANGED EITHER!  

Problem began BEFORE switch to AOL.  YES, I retained my Verizon email address.  YES, I've checked the settings.  YES, I've turned both units off & re-booted both but still no mail.

I have tried several times to "add" my new AOL account on my iMac without any success! I keep receiving the message "cant verify user name or password", I've been able to set it up on my iPhone without any problems so this makes so sense at all. I need help.

I REPLACED/INACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT USED BEFORE MIGRATION AND ACTIVATED THIS WHICH I CALLED AOL VERIZON EMAIL 

I CAN RECEIVE AND SEND ON MY iPHONE AND iPAD

iPhone setup for VZ AOL MAIL
Settings>>Accounts>>ADD ACCOUNT
AOL VERIZON EMAIL
IMAP
Account: ######@verizon.net> AOL ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Name:
Email: #####@verizon.net
Password: ############
Description: AOL VERIZON EMAIL
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
SMTP smtp.aol.com>
PRIMARY SERVER
smtp.aol.com ON
Host Name: smtp.aol.com
User Name: #####@verizon.net
Password:##########
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 465
OTHER SMTP SERVERS
smtp.verizon.net Server ON
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host Name: smtp.verizon.net
User Name: ##### (this is your VZ Id)
Password:##########
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 465

This server cannot be modified
because it is the primary outgoing
server for the account ‘Verizon’
If Mail is unsuccessful using the
Primary server,it will try the other
SMTP servers in succession.

Can you post the server names, port numbers, and authentication methods you are specifying?  Also, is it failing over both WiFi and wireless?

i can send and receive email on my 2 pc's but cannot send email using my ipad since i began using aol via verizon.  my ipad message is that " cannot send mail --the username or password for  dddd@verizon.net is incorrect."

Followed instructions to a T but still says incorrect login/password.  Hate Verizon for selling me out two weeks after I renew contract.
