is Verizon the absolutely worst corporation in your life?

After resetting all of my incoming and outcoming server settings to conform to updates with Verizon, my phone and computer emails don't work. I'd call but -- woops! There's no phone number! Only creepy-looking cartoon characters to interact with. Honostly, people at Verizon must be suffering from lead poisoning. I cannot explain any other way how they could think that a creepo cartoon character is a sufficient or desirable customer service outreach.

I did find a number on my bill (you know the weird, glib-sounding automatic voice that talks you through, right? The one that makes you think: now I know the glib voice of a psychopath. And I'm sure you can all guess what happened: extremely high call volume!! What a surprise!! And then the sound of electronic static at high volume for a few minutes before it disconnects me.

But then there's this online forum. Now THERE's a solution for a quick, helpful answer to precise questions, I'm sure. But guess what, to set up an account to access it, you need the three digit code from (drum roll please) the EMAIL they send you to validate your account.

Verizon, you need to stop eating tuna and chewing on the wall paint.

It would be funny if these people didn't have extraordinary power and weath.

But I'm a glass half full kind of person, so I'll ask: any suggestions on how to get my phone and computer email working again?

AFA the 3 digit code for activation when you initially setup your  account; did you give verizon a non verizon email address (that is what i did)? It can be found here https://www.verizon.com/foryourhome/MyAccount/ngen/pr/user/profile.aspx in Notification settings.

Certanly not the worst.

My FIOS connection is at 100% reliabilty over a period of 2 years.  Most the datacenter will give you is 99.999%.

That said, something is goin on with there email servers.  I have one account that wont grab email but my sub accounts will.

Maybe we are going to get IMAP?!?!

Have you tried the DSL Reports forum?  Theres some good knowledge over there.

Here are my settings on the account that works

incoming.verizon.net

outgoing.verizon.net

PORT NUMBERS

OUTGOING SMTP   465

INCOMING POP3     995

It is truly Sad we have to post here... Issues with email server, check support page for number to call or post something and all I get is some stupid virtual dummy.. no number to call, no link for live chat, nada....

Had to do a google search for customer support. would think they would have a message while on hold saying we've got email server issues, stop calling because we don't care.. just pay your dam bill and leave us alone..

Left Comcast for less than this crap

hung up after on hold for 15 minutes.

Fios.. if you read these things call me.. Give me a reason to not go back to comcast

Other than this forum, I've never seen "incoming/outgoing.verizon.net" referenced as e-mail server addresses.  In fact, the "official"  e-mail settings page lists incoming as  "pop.verizon.net" (port 995) and  outgoing as "smtp.verizon.net" (port 465).

As of this writing, attempts to ping all four server addresses (incoming..., outgoing..., pop... and smtp.verizon.net) only outgoing.verizon.net is responding; the remaining three time out.

yea i went and checked and they are saying its pop and not incoming. One of my other devices has been on incoming and have had no issues.  So I am not sure.  Verizon doesnt date any of there bulletins so you can never tell if it was posted recently or 5 years ago.

Up until a few months ago the incoming and outgoing were the recommended servers.  They are in the midst of telling everyone to change to pop.verizon.net smtp.verizon.net.  In fact the warnings state the older ones may stop working this month.
