Does anyone ever report SPAM that blows right past the Verizon spam filter?

Has anyone had a positive experience reporting spam to spamdetector.notcaught@verizon.net ?

I have forwarded probably a hundreds or more emails with headers to this address, and have made it my mission.

Does anyone think it will help?

I get this standard reply for perhaps one out of ten I report.

I posted in hopes to get more positive feedback, but received what I expected. All the trouble Verizon started when they blocked port 25 and from what I remember got involved with Spamhaus only a PR stunt or a way to limit our options. Oh viruses and malware use port 25 so you must use our server for SMTP. BULL! Why do I get so much trash through port 110? If their servers would just spend the few extra seconds and do reverse lookups, most of this trash would not get through. Most of the trash I have been forwarding to the black hole address mentioned, would fail a reverse lookup test, and does not come from a valid domain. Anyone with a residential account that does not have a domain in the IP addess space lookup table should have their mail rejected anyway.

I've been reporting it but have seen no improvement at all.

The stuff getting through is obvious spam that any basic spam filter should be able to catch.  I've noticed most of it occurs during regular business hours ET.

Only one of my accounts has a lot of uncaught spam but that one is very frustrating.  All the stuff getting through is in the same format, with bogus HTML metadata, jpg image in the body, and obviously forged headers.

I've been able to manually block much of it by adding the following domains to my Block Senders List....

mo1221time.com

jacibluemar.com

itar005tied.com

crokram.com

And by adding the following to my Filters:

If From contains .info

If From contains singles

If From contains ink

If From contains coupon

If Subject contains quibids

I move those messages to a new folder I created called Blocked so I can still see what's getting through the Spam Filter.

I would like to know who at Verizon is responsible for their spam policies, and hear him answer some questions about why they're such a failure.

I very rarely get any spam at all, caught by the spam filter or otherwise. Then again, I don't use my verizon.net address to sign up for ANYTHING, so I'm not on the spam lists.

If I did though, I would probably forward it to spamdetector.notcaught@verizon.net so I could at least *feel* like something might get done. Ah, the placebo effect...

Prisaz -- have you tried actually unsubscribing from the spam using the links at the bottom of the E-mails?

No because my Outlook filter is catching it and filling up my Junk folder. I will not open any of the mesages after Outlook has blocked links, redirects, and scripts that my be imbedded in said trash. Many people would say not to open, click on links or reply to anything that is junk mail comming from an invalid domain as shown in the mail headers. Also unsubscribing just verifies the Email address is a good place to send more trash. It is not good to open mail from unknown senders. Most antivirus, anti malware would catch bad stuff, and many improvements have been made to mail client software. But why chance it when you know it is trash?

Well at least I know from the ones getting through which companies I will never do business with, ever.  Gevalia, SimplyInk, Dish Network, Proactiv and any other company tied into this kind of incessant referral spam. They may not be sending out the E-mails themselves, but they're paying out commissions to these spammers and enabling them. 

Verizon's silence on this is troubling.  I know this is supposed to be a user-to-user support forum, but I see Verizon reps post to other threads so why not finally address this issue?  It's clearly an ongoing problem for a lot of users and no one at Verizon seems to acknowledge it or even be the slightest bit helpful about it.  It's time someone at the company took some accountability for it.
