100/100 or 150/150 wanted

Currently I am on 75/75 but wanted to upgrade to 100/100 or 150/150 but so far have no luck.  CSR told me, I can't get 100/100 or 150/150.  However I can 300/300 if I am willing to pay.

What is the problem?

If I can get 300 why nothing in between?

What model ONT did Verizon install at your home? Also, is your router using Coax or Ethernet/CAT5e between the ONT and the router?

Verizon has been for some reason requring people to upgrade to 300Mbps in order to dispatch a tech for either getting a new ONT or for installing Ethernet. Some people have needed to order the 300Mbps, get it installed, and then downgrade the service to the desired speed once installation is complete. Most likely it's to hide away an old upgrade fee.

Smith6612, thank you.  I have 612A and I think it max out at 100 Mbps.  I have Fios for the past 8 years in this new house and 3+ years from the previous house.

I have an Ethernet from the ONT to the router.  I guess I can call them and discuss the pricing for 300/300 and see if I can't downgrade it after the first month,  it will be urgly if I get locked down to the 300/300 pricing for 2 years. I guess I have 30 days to downgrade and Verizon is not likely to send the crew to my house to replacing out the new ONT with the old one.

Not sure what Verizon is gaining from doing this tho.  10+ years with Fios ought to show them that I ain't going anywhere.

I guess I can see they are doing it this way when the dollars and cents are their bottom line.

Yeah, definitely an ONT issue at this point. It's too old. You shouldn't have a problem dropping the speed from 300Mbps within the first month. It's something many here and at DSLReports have done to get a GPON ONT as well as one of the speeds between 300 and 75Mbps.

Verizon will just charge you the daily rate for 300Mbps for as long as you have it, up to the full monthly price of the 300Mbps tier if you keep it for a full month. Any speed tier change will adjust the bill accordingly based on how many days you've had it.
