2 week wait for install

Message 1 of 5

Just order up TV/Internet/Phone and the install date is set for OCT. 17 (just over 2 weeks away), is there anyway to speed this up, it's going into new construction and while I might be able to get by w/o TV and Phone for a while I really need the internet.

One other option would be to get the phone turned on and go dial-up for a while or swing by Panera and leach off their wi-fi but I really need that inter net. Soon...

PS I'm in 20152 NoVA area.

Actually that is pretty good. The install date should be the date it is up and running. The fiber must be run to you home before the install date. Utility locating service needs to mark the underground services before that happens. 24-48 hours.

You mentioned new construction so it is probably underground service. If your house is not pre wired with RG-6 coax where ever you want TV service, or minimum CAT-6 Ethernet where ever you want a hardwired network connection, you may want to get that done prior to the install. Verizon will if I remember correctly, will install no charge to one location, and then connect to existing cables. Lower cost for inside wiring yourself or possibly pay your electrician to do the work? Two weeks will give you plenty of time to get any required work done. But yes I would be anxious also.

Would I be able to get the phone turned on right away then I could a least get a dial-up connection until the 2 weeks is up, 2 weeks with out internet might not work and I don't want to turn to cable.

This is a Peer to Peer support forum. You really should contact Verizon on Monday and see what they can do for you. You can find the contact information from the contact us link at the bottom of this page.

If this is new construction you may or may not have copper lines to your home. If it is new construction you may have copper and or fiber cable already run to your home. If service has never been established for this residence it will be difficult. I am not sure if they will turn on the copper if available and establish a connection during the two week order window since there is a service order already in place. But I doubt it.

If you were to somehow get cable service established faster, you may not be as happy with the features. But that is up to you. I would never go to cable now that I have FiOS, unless I had some major falling out with Verizon, and Verizon knows this. I have not had cable since the early 90s. Every other type of internet service, plus DTV was my route, since I took all my equipment and placed it on the cable companies counter in I think 1993. Digital cable was still one way in my area and required dialup.

I wish you the best in what ever you are able to get. I would just wait.

chances are no. Simply because the phone has the same limitation. It needs to have the fiber run to the house and the ONT installed prior to being able to give the phone. In this case, the Phone, Internet, and TV are all in the same boat. No way to hurry just one service. Once one can be done so can the others.
