The box inside my house keeps beeping low battery. How can I get a replacement battery? The beeping is slowly driving me crazy.

The 12V/ 7Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery in the ONT is fairly common in home alarm systems as well as FiOS installations.

While it is possible to order a replacement from Verizon, they will charge two arms and three legs for it.

Best bet is to look in the Yellow Pages either for a store that specializes in Batteries (like Batteries Plus in many areas), or

an alarm supply store. It is probalby simplest if you take out the old battery and bring it with you. SLA's come with two sizes

of battery terminals, and  you want to make sure you get the one that fits the connectors in the ONT.  Should not cost more than about $25 or so. These batteries can also be found on eBay and from online shops for even less.

Anything that is the right form factor, and somewhere near 12V/7Ah will work just fine.

In the meantime just disconnect the battery that will silence it.

However if you have a power cut your phone/s will die immediately rather than in the 12 hours that the battery backup will provide.  Of course in the case of most people these days that no longer have old wired phones the backup time is pretty meaningless as as soon as the power goes out all the wireless phones are dead too.

The battery is a lead acid battery that CAN BE RECHARGED. It says it on the face of the battery. It's just like an alarm system back up battery or motorcycle battery. You can buy a "battery tender" to recharge it every so often. And the battery should last at least 10 years or more. Just don't leave it discharge for too long. You can buy the battery tender at most auto parts stores for about $15.00 to $30.00 and could be used to charge your car battery too.

Tvas....

Did you notice that you replied to a thread that was 2+ years old?

In any case, the ONT battery shouldn't need an external battery tender.  If working properly, the BBU keeps the battery fully charged to be prepared for a power outage.
