Can I upgrade my old Verizon FiOS wireless router?

Can I simply take my nearly 5 year old Verizon FiOS MI424WR wireless router to any Verizon Service Center for an upgraded model that supports Dual Band 802.11n ? All my wireless devices support 802.11n and having it run on "G" is killing me.

They charge 80 dollars for their N router.

Their N router isn't a 300MB 5GHZ wireless N.

For that price, I would get a dual radio 300MBS 5ghz Wireless N online at amazon.

Just my .02

agreed. You'd be better off buying a dual band of your own and using the existing unit without wireless turned on.

There are posts here and FAQs about setting up two routers.

If your router is a Rev. D or older, ask Verizon to send you a new one. They shouldn't give you many issues and there's a good chance you'll wind up with at least a Rev. F. Recently a relative of mine received a Rev. I ActionTec to replace a Rev. F and they only pay for the 20Mbps plan which doesn't even require a Rev. I.
