Costs to Upgrade from 75/75 to 100/100 or 150/150

I currently have triple play with 75/75 internet and am trying to find out how much per month it would cost to upgrade to either 100/100 or 150/150.  I already have a G1100 router and cat 7 cable available from the G1100 to the SFH ONT 612 in the garage.  Only 300/300 is listed as an upgrade option when I go online and search "upgrade my service" and live chat is "unavailable."  Not wanting to spend a long time on the phone trying to get this information, can anyone shed light on why there is no upgrade from 75/75 except 300/300?  I'm in Howard County, MD.

Your ONT is BPON and needs to be upgraded. I suspect this is probably a database issue, with the system thinking nothing else higher exists due to the BPON setup. Have the next rep you speak with submit an engineering request to have that fixed. Or, you could upgrade to 300Mbps for the month to get your ONT swapped, and then 150Mbps and 100Mbps should become available.

It's unlikely, but possible, that there are no open GPON ports open at your Fiber Distribution Hub.

My understanding is that the BPON ONT I have would not need to be upgraded to GPON unless I go to 150/150 or above.but that may have been disinformation I picked up somewhere.  Anyway, 300/300 is not a cost effective option for me and I won't risk ordering it without assurance that I can back down to 100/100 or 150/150 AND that these latter two tiiers are priced what I consiider to be reasonable.

There must be ports available at my local GPON dist. hub or they couldn't offer 300/300 (?).  Since 75/75 is no longer offered to new customers and 100/100 is replacing it, I wonder if there is any possibility of getting a free 100/100 upgrade.  Probably not if you are right about 100/100 requiring the ONT upgrade.  I have not been able to find any definitive answer to the question of what is the minimum symmetrical speed that requires GPON.  Guess I'll have to endure the ordeal of getting info from Verizon via phone.

(MY NOTE)  At this point I figured any further conversation would be fruitless because my current understanding of the technology conflicts with that statement.  But I may be wrong - I have heard that a reason for GPON ONTs being required is to handle future IP TV so, was he correct - at least for speeds up to the current 500/500 offering?  Obviously I have some research to do but so far I haven't found much in the areas in question.
