We have Schlage Connect lock, which works with Zwave.
How can I enable Zwave on my FIOS G1100 Quantum Gateway Wireless Router?
In the spec sheet of the router it says Z wave advanced Features

Has an article about it in the Quantum Gateway Router. Disregard the date of the article since it states it is compatible with locks, lights etc.

I should have mentioned I did look at the manual, there nothing about Z wave.

If look in lower right hand corner of the above linked pdf, it mentions about Z wave as advanced features. Note that it is a Verizon document.
I was wondering if the Z wave option is there and if there is a way to turn it on.

It may be that the Z wave is non operational as is the USB ports on the Quantum Gateway. The literature can say one thing and then not be enabled.
