Hello.
My Garage is 300ft away from my house and i barely get a wifi signal and it always gets dropped and is very weak. We have a 300ft Cat5e cable from the router to the garage for my brothers xbox.
Question is: Can i plug a 2nd router into that cat5 cable and have it work to extend my networks wifi? We could then plug his xbox into the back of the router.
Also, what router would i need? And is it just plug and play or do i have to make any changes to the settings on my main FIOS router?
Thanks so much for the help.
Jeff!

If you want wireless get and Access Point router.. its a router but dumb.. you don't have to configure it as much as a regular router.
or
Try getting a Powerline ethernet adapter.. It connects to your router and you connect one end of the adapter to a power outlet and you connect the other adapter in your garage and voila.
Google "Powerline ethernet adapter" Youtube also has information about it... its easier and less messy.
