This is a peer to peer support forum.
So won't get an answer from Verizon here.
Did you call customer service when it went out?
Might be able to call and get a credit.

First Con Edison has to repair the electrical service before anyone can even work on the pole. Next the cable company comes out and then finally Verizon comes out. Verizon has to remove and replace the bad section of fiber then the splicers have to come out and splice the fiber back together.. That is why it takes 7 days for the service to be restored. They actually did it in good time.
