Any particular reason why the Internet bill jumped up $7 in price per month?

Check to see if the bill has any itemized amounts that were not present in your last bill. This could be anything, from a promotion expiring, a service change, to even a router rental fee.

Fios rates recently went up in several markets. If you are out of contract or out of the 2 year price guarantee then you're rates most likely went up or will. If you don't receive a paper bill, check the pdf versions online in your account monthly for notices as many were notified in advance their rates were going to go up.
Usually if Verizon's rates go up, other providers either already have raised theirs or are about to.

They raised my bill too and I switched to Comcast. I've found Comcast to be a bit less reliable than Verizon but also significantly cheaper. I think Verizon is going for a higher priced niche than the cable companies. For your average home user, the higher price of Verizon may not be worth it. If you're running a business it probably is worth it to pay considerably more for a bit more reliability. Verizon is not currently interested in competing with the lowest cost options you can get from cable companies.

It depends on which market one lives in and what competition is around if any. Bright House here is always more then Verizon even with new customer pricing. Bright House makes it seem like it's cheaper then Fios, but when you compare services, equipment costs, etc. it always ends up being more in the end.
