When I go to my friends house ( they have cablevision ) I can watch videos there just fine on youtube. I havent notice the same issue with hulu though...

This only happens on Verizon FIOS. High performance machine / 25MB+. I'm convinced its either the router or they throttle youtube as it competes with the TV.

Here are three four traces I took last night from my FiOS connection in Chesapeake, VA, wherein YouTube was almost at a standstill. Unusable, even with 280p video and the lowest quality settings:

I agree with guys. Youtube has been slow to buffer movies as of late and it'll stop playing the video so it can catch up.
I'd expect this on slower DSL but not my 50/25 fios line....
I'm in the Philadelphia area if that helps any.

Same here in Rhode Island as well. Went to several Video streaming sites like Vimeo.. and no problem at all on 1080p streaming. Lol, I can't even get some 240p videos on Youtube to play. Called up a friend who lives up the street on Cox and they have no problem at all. I noticed that there never seems to be any Verizon reps replying to any of these threads either.
Also, this is done from straight ethernet and not wireless either. This is beyond pathetic though and if they are throttling on purpose then a class action lawsuit is in order.

Having the same issues in Newport News, VA on 75/35 FiOS. I can't load YouTube videos, even at 240p resolution, but everything else is fine - other streaming sites, downloads via game clients like Steam and Origin, and regular downloads through my web browser. For what it's worth, I am not using Verizon's provided Actiontec router.
Perhaps there is a routing issue somewhere in VA that is causing the slowdown?

Okay. They are not throttling. Read my explanation above and also check out this graph from YouTube itself (source: http://youtube.com/my_speed).
It's not just Verizon seeing the YouTube issues. Keep in mind, the "Your Network" rating is computed based on IP range. I'm sharing that result with other DSL users, not FiOS.

Just adding a "me too". Switched to Verizon FIOS from Optimum Online five days ago. Never noticed a problem with OO, FIOS the problem seems to be with every other video.
I reconnected the Optimum connection (haven't cancelled the service or returned the equipment yet). I find five videos that regularly have problems on FIOS, my general feeling is that "less watched" videos could be problematic, then watch them with my laptop connected to Optimum. No problems, buffering what I consider normal. Back to FIOS, problems reoccur.
Not all videos, not all the time. Other than youtube I have no problems with the service (15/5 I think). Myself and my sons all noticed the difference. Google "FIOS youtube buffering" and you will see many threads such as this, no solutions that I can see.
Between this and a DVR that resets 2-3 times a day (no problems with the Cablevision box that had been in it's place), and my reluctance to deal with what i know from experience will be poor Verizon customer service, I may just switch back.
