Trying to download drivers from samsung as well as do some bd live stuff with a new samsung blu ray and having issues. All other internet sites work and connectoins. Connected a pc to the router (hardwired) and tried to download the file. No dice. My wireless also VZ) downlaods without an issue. VZ says because it's outside of their network there's nothing they can do...but theres gotta be something on the vzn side or some firewall blocking the site at some level...
here's the link:
(or any download from this site)

Both links work fine from my fios connection. Yout tracerts show that you got to the samsung site with no issues.

I have the Verizon Router and have a Ssmsung TV and Blue Ray Player. I get the identical Time Out message AND I cannot connect to internet @ TV nor can I download anything from Samsung's download center. Check out the Cnet Forums, there's one exclusively for Samsung and there are 4 threads relating to this issue. I have called Samsung more than a dozen times and they say they know about the problem and are working towards a solution which they obviously haven't found yet. At this point, I think this all has something to do with the router that we have.

Must be a location issue because I have the Actiontec Router along with the Samsung TV and BR player. From the TV I can check for new software (which no updates available) and on the BR player its currently downloading new software as we speak.

I just got off the phone with Verizon FIOS service and am totally convinced that the issue lies with Samsung. Among other things I was told that Samsung frequently has issues with 3rd party products, in this case the Actiontec router MI424. He suggested that we call Samsung and ask them about port forwarding specification and the DNS server settings and said that perhaps the IP address is part of a range that is blocked for some reason. The firewall settings on everything is at its lowest setting and i've literally tried everydifferent combination of setting to try and make this work to no avail. I guess i'm relegated to speaking with the Samsung people and pestering them until we get the answers that solve our problem.

Wow, I'm having the same issue as you are.
1. Samsung web-site works fine except for "org.downloadcenter.samsung.com" and the "ars." site.
2. My Samsung BluRay (BD-C6500) cannot get any Internet@TV functions to work.
This was one of the main reasons I chose the Samsung, was that it had wireless and that it had the BD Live stuff that i liked.
The exact same configuration that I have in Colorado works flawlessly. I can remote desktop to any site outside of southern CA and I can download manuals, firmware, and such from the Samsung site, but not from here in Lake Elsinore.
I've logged a support ticket with Samsung (now up to what they call Tier #3), and awaiting their callback.
Are we sure that it's our IP address range getting blocked? I'm in the 108.0.91.xxx range....are the few of you with the same problem in the same range?
If I cant clear this up soon, I'll be returning the Blu-Ray player to Dell and look for another product.

UPDATE:
- I called Verizon FIOS and they refuse to help or log any info on this at all. They state that their Technical Support center is only interested in issues within the residence, not outsite. "Your best bet is to use the forums because the Network Engineers log in and answer many of the questions".
I can only assume that someone, somewhere is blocking some IP ranges (ours) but I find it odd that you guys appear to be on the east coast and I'm here in the west.
Now I need to find that CNET forum your speaking of....
Oh, one last thing, "defjab42", my TRACERT results in the exact same ending, same IP. BUT, I get the same result from a computer that works (in CO). Their switches or servers are probably set to block the ICMP packets/ping requests (guessing).
VERIZON ENGINEERS: PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello SirEbrum
As noted on the Community Page, this is a peer-to-peer support forum where Verizon users help each other. It is not staffed by Verizon engineers. Occasionally some technicians may drop in and post on a thread, but if you need technical assistance for a Verizon product or service, you really need to contact Verizon directly. It sounds as if you are on the right track by contacting Samsung.

Actually ... I took a look at the first link you provided and it ended up directing me utlimately to:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201004/20100408093538453/UPD_Guide_EN.pdf
If I do a DNS lookup on that address, it's actually CNAME into the Akamai front-end cloud (which many companies use to cache their content semi-intelligently around the globe). This means different geographic regions get different servers near them from which the content is served.
I would find someone who is a FiOS customer in your immediate area and ask them to try the link (and you try the link above). Bonus points awarded if they are on the same subnet.
If it works for them and not you, then the bad news is that it's something local to your network/router.
If it doesn't work for them, then you need to get your IP address (dropping the last octet really) to Samsung and let them know the multiple customers from that part of the network can't reach their site. It could be a routing problem -- particularly if they have multiple carriers terminating in their datacenter. I have seen this problem crop up periodically in an enterprise datacenter where they have both AT&T and Verizon cross-routing their privately held class C address blocks / AS number -- every once in a while the routes will start some kind of BGP route flapping to occur or one carrier will start filtering addresses inappropriately -- net result being an asymmetric path across firewalls at the server end -- and packets being dropped. No clue what the scenario could be here, but it's not a "verizon" problem specifically -- but more an ISP / routing problem at the server end (Verizon may be complicit by virtue of the fact that they are advertising the routes for your network into the "internet", but it's the handling at the remote end which is really the issue). Long story short ... Samsung issue.
If the second link I provided above works for you, then it's in the Samsung datacenter itself (whatever server they are using to do the redirection) -- meaning from the looks of your traceroute that someone in Samsung - Korea will need to look at it. If the second link doesn't work, then it's an Akamai problem -- Samsung would still need to engage Akamai to figure out what's up -- could be a misconfigured caching server or something which is why different geographic regions would yield different results since they would be being routed to different servers.
