You need to provide more details if you're to get any help here.

Are you getting a laptop or desktop computer?

Mac or Windows?

Wired or wifi connection?

And anything else that will help us understand what you're looking for.   What "steps" are you asking about, besides removing the old computer and plugging in the new one? (It's really almost that simple.)

For a wired connection just replace the computer with the new one.  Make sure you plug the Ethernet cable from the router into the new PC.  Turn it on and you are off running.

For a wireless connection you will need to connect the SSID that is labeled on the router along with the WEP key.

You are not required to install any new software on the NEW PC.

As the previous poster indicated can you let us know more details about the new computer.
