Hi everyone
I just ordered a new Verizon Wireless Router (MI424WR GigE) from the Verizon store.
Do I have to return my old router to Verizon or is that mine to keep? I'd like to use it as a secondary (tertiary, really) router somewhere else in the house.
Thanks for reading my post.

Keep the exsisting router and use it if you want. If you ever decide to stop using it dont throw it out or sell it, just put it away somewhere as they will want it back if you ever cancel service.

Thanks. That was what I needed to know. I am surprised they ask for it back if you cancel service.

The router they gave you wasnt purchashed by you like the rev. i was so it remains their property and remains on your account. I know awhile back they werent asking for the old Westell routers back with some customers, but they wanted mine back when I cancelled service before. I bought a rev. i like you and a note that came with it said to toss the old router, but when I cancelled they said yes I had to return it so just imagine what would have happend if I did sell or toss it. I know they want the older Actiontec's back for sure.

In the past, Verizon's old policy was if you had the router for more than a year or two, it was your router to keep and use. If you buy the Rev. I router, keep it and use it as a MoCa bridge. It makes a nice 4-port wired switch and an access point over MoCa (Coaxial) for those harder to reach areas of your home.

Still looking for an "official" answer to this question of returning an older router upon receipt of a new one.
a) Return it
b) keep it as ours and possible toss/recycle
c) keep in closet for eventual Verizon return someday in the future.
Anyone have an official answer? I see NO info in new box or online.

Several months back they sent me a Rev I router to replace my defective Westell 9100em.
They also sent me a box for the return of the Westell.
The next month they charged me for the Actiontec but withdrew the charge when I pointed out it was a replacement for the defective one which I had returned to them.
